Note to recruiters, if you are going to take a grad transfer from Harvard take one that can give you 9-10 from three.

Typed in a comment with about 7 minutes left and then forgot to post it. I was hoping that my tuning in wouldn't jinx anything. Point difference then was 14. Guess I was OK.

Iowa has the worst defense in the big 10 so Maryland, being good, is made to look even better.

Tough finish schedule for Iowa as they try and not play themselves out of March, 3 of 5 games versus ranked teams. Counting today the Terps finish with six games versus unranked teams so not much chance of them dropping or rising as a March #2 seed.

League is pretty tough, 8 teams with NET under 39.

Can't find anything on whether Madison Smith and Kyrse Gondrezick will play against us on Wednesday. Some forum scuttlebutt that Gondrezick is in concussion protocol and Smith is out for at least regular season. Smith was on crutches so totally buying her not playing or even traveling.

In Iowa Stare's last four games they have made 69 of 72 free throw attempts. That is a pretty fair 96 percent clip! I think I heard they are now second in the nation for the season.

Baylor thumped Okie Lite, 70-51 in Waco. Mack had 18 and 18. Asberry was the only other Cowgirl with more than 7 points (15). Baylor's Smith had 20.

Oklahoma won at TCU, 76-60. Robertson had 28 for OU.

Kansas State picked up their second league win, beating Tech in Manhattan, 86-79. Both teams sank 11 three pointers. KSU hit 9 more free throws than TTU.

Texas won at Kansas, 61-52 in what looked like a very meh game. Collier had 23.

With last night's great win, and assuming we beat KU in Hilton next Wednesday in the regular season finale, we will finish 12-6. Let me tell you fanatics, there's a chance we could sneak into the third place of Big12 final standings.

Here's my analysis.

First, OSU is done for their regular season. Their record is 13-5 and they are guaranteed the second (WVU finishes 12-6 or worse) or third seed (WVU finishes 13-5). They will finish ahead of us regardless.

Both WVU and Texas will face Baylor. Baylor has a lot to play for in terms of their NCAA seeding, so I fully expect no letdown from them. I will pencil in a loss for both WVU and Texas, which gives WVU 5 losses and Texas 6 losses after their Baylor games.

WVU has two other games against the bottom feeders, both on the road, @KU and @KSU. I'd bet KSU still remembers the meltdown in Morgantown and they are hungry for revenge with their renewed energy after finally breaking through a series of narrow defeats. If WVU fell at the Octagon of Doom, it would give them a total of 6 losses at the end, the same as ours.

Texas has two other games against the bottom feeders as well. One vs OU at home, the other vs TCU on the road. OU has been playing great lately (which makes our loss in Norman look less bad) and could finish the regular season with an overall winning record. If Texas lost either game, they would have a total of 7 losses and fall to the fifth seed for sure.

If both ISU and WVU share the same regular season record (12-6) and Texas finishes 11-7, we hold the tiebreaker over WVU because we beat Baylor, so we will grab the third seed and WVU gets the fourth.

If all three teams finish with the same record (12-6), WVU will get the third, Texas fourth and ISU fifth because we lose in the three-team tiebreaker (WVU 3-1, Texas 2-2, ISU 1-3).

If unfortunately, WVU and Texas hold serves against their inferior opponents, the final seedings will be WVU 2nd, OSU 3rd, Texas 4th and ISU 5th.

Red's Joens record thread got me thinking about where Lexi Donarski ranks among freshman seasons at ISU. Ah, pretty darn good and maybe better than peeps realize. ISU records go by total points per class and not scoring average but here's a table by average for everyone who averaged 11 points or better. Might have missed someone, hard to figure who was/was not a freshman in the 1970's listings as lots of peeps didn't play for four years.

Donarski is only guaranteed to hit 27 games but that isn't at all short for this season and same as Bridget played her freshman year. Likely to end up Top 5 whether you go by average or total points.

Some other familiar names and how they did as freshman: Angie Welle 10.9, Seanna Johnson 10.2, Jadda Buckley 10.9, Nikki Moody 10.2, Kelsey Bolte 10.3, Heather Ezel 10.0.

Only shows that I'm old and have followed WBB since Bill came, but I've seen all them play except Burns and Peterson.

Siena has a player (Isis Young) considering using her EIGHTH season of eligibility next year. She's the leading scorer in the MAAC.

She started at Florida, transferred to Syracuse (getting a bachelors and a masters), transferred to Fordham (getting a second masters), and transferred to Siena (working toward a third masters). Along the way, she sat out one transfer season and two injury redshirts, and grad transferred twice.

Normally you get 5 years to play four, but she's extended that to seven years due to the two medical hardships. She could get her eighth due to the COVID waiver.
