That trainer for UT had an interesting spot to clean for blood on Collier.

Very physical game. 2 players with 4 fouls for UT. End of 3Q: UT leading 43-38.

Texas just finished off K-State at home 59-48.

Now the Horns have a one-game lead to ISU at the loss column and hold the tiebreak. They will face Baylor one more time and most likely drop that one. Assuming we won the two remaining home games, if they somehow got upset by one of the bottom 5 teams (@KU, vs OU, @TCU), we would leap over them to the 4th in the Big12 final standings.

One of the early entry HS kids is making an immediate impact at Oregon State. Just flipped into Oregon State upsetting UCLA game on ESPN2 and Talia von Oelhoffen has 13 points and 6 rebounds. Not bad for a high school kid versus #8 UCLA. Five star recruit and all but still pretty impressive. They've only played 14 games because of being shutdown by Covid.

Red's Joens record thread got me thinking about where Lexi Donarski ranks among freshman seasons at ISU. Ah, pretty darn good and maybe better than peeps realize. ISU records go by total points per class and not scoring average but here's a table by average for everyone who averaged 11 points or better. Might have missed someone, hard to figure who was/was not a freshman in the 1970's listings as lots of peeps didn't play for four years.

Donarski is only guaranteed to hit 27 games but that isn't at all short for this season and same as Bridget played her freshman year. Likely to end up Top 5 whether you go by average or total points.

Some other familiar names and how they did as freshman: Angie Welle 10.9, Seanna Johnson 10.2, Jadda Buckley 10.9, Nikki Moody 10.2, Kelsey Bolte 10.3, Heather Ezel 10.0.

Iowa is playing their makeup game at Maryland today at noon on BTN regular main channel. Going to give it a looky. Should be lot-o-points scored as they are the two top offenses in the Big 10. Big advantage to Brenda's team though, they score 92 a game and Iowa is the worst defense in the Big 10. Iowa is 2nd in scoring at 88 points/game.

Interesting matchup of point guards, last years Big 10 Freshman of the Year, Ashley Owusu, versus this years Freshman of the Year, Clark.

Correction: Two highest scoring teams in the country.

It is a game Iowa desperately needs in term of another quality win, their best wins to date are Rutgers, us and Drake. They are 1-5 against the teams ahead of them in the Big Ten, and that one win came at home against Rutgers early in the year.

Maryland might score 40 in the 1st. Threes are raining. Nightmare matchup for Iowa, another team that scores like crazy AND plays defense. Plus Maryland is starting out crazy hot and is seven for seven from three.

Edit: Maybe the hottest shooting I've ever seen in a single quarter. Terps were 8-9 from three and lead 41-21. Don't recall a team scoring 21 in the opener and being down by 20. And, Maryland just got their #2 recruit who was out with a broken foot back. They are going to be so tough come March.

Down by 20 at the end of the first quarter. Maryland incredibly efficient, Iowa with 7 turnovers in the quarter.

Iowa's MO all year has been to dig themselves in a big hole and have a huge comeback to win.

This is freakin crazy. Maryland gal, Katie Benzan (all of 5'-6") has seven threes already. Clark has 6 three pointers, 5 from logo range. Amazing shooting in this game.

Damn. Iowa on pace to score 102 and they are getting killed. 68 by Terps is one short of Big 10 record.

Benzan with 8 threes.

Clark with 8 threes.

Teams combined for 24-34 from three.

Man, the scoring of this game is like an NBA game.

I don't follow BigTen much. Anybody knows what happens to Zoe Young? Is she not good enough to make Maryland's regular rotation?
