Updated with last night's game. Notes:
  • Joens passed Ronhovde for #12 in career rebounds. Scott is #11, and it's a race to see which of the two has the most career rebounds at the end of the season (Scott leads Joens by 7). Neither will likely break the top 10 this season, as Christofferson (#10) is well ahead of both.
  • Joens is now within striking distance of the career top 10 in scoring. She is 33 points behind Lacey.
  • I am currently projecting only two more games this season. I will add a game to that projection for every game they win in postseason tournaments, of course.

Remember that Stacy Frese's numbers on the three point shots are fourth but she only played here three years. if you would project out her numbers for three years to a four year career she would blow away the competition! And her career three point percentage was 45 percent - that is outstanding! Her number should be hanging from the rafters along side Megan's and

Updated with tonight's game. Notes:
  • Joens passed Lacey, Bolte, and Johnson to become ISU's #8 career scorer. If ISU beats A&M, she has an outside shot at #7 (she's 61 points behind Christofferson).
  • Joens passed Moody to crack the top 10 in FGA

Finally the first update of this season. Notables:
  • She passed Christofferson, Burns, and Olson in career scoring, now sitting at #5. She's only 4 points from Megan Taylor and 13 from Lindsey Wilson.
  • She's now in the top 10 in career rebounds (moving up from #11 to #8)
  • She's moved up in almost every category since the end of last season.
I noticed while updating this that she's drawing fewer fouls and shooting more threes than last season. I don't know if this is a permanent shift in her offense or it's more about the opponents so far.

It might be a little showing the WNBA scouts something. In the league she will have to show the small forward skills due to the size at that level.

As suggested in another thread, here's a thread keeping an eye on Ashley Joens' attempt to break ISU records.

I've projected her career numbers after this season (assuming 32 games), and after an additional bonus season if she decides to take it (assuming 32 games). Projections for this year and potential bonus year use her 2021-22 season-to-date averages.

Wow, she'll probably be #3 in scoring by some point in the next game. I like that she scores in so many different ways.

Tonya Burns once swatted my shot practically to the next court :)

Updated with the Iowa game. As expected, she passed Taylor and Wilson to become #3 all-time in points. She's now 254 behind Carleton and 261 behind Welle. At her current rate, she'll be challenging those records 13 games from now, which (barring cancellations or injuries) would be around the Feb 5th home game vs OSU.

She is also now 8 rebounds away from Carleton at #7 in career rebounds. She's not projected to end the season #1, but she is projected to hit 1,000 career rebounds around 16 games from now, which would be the Feb 19th home game vs OU (again, barring injuries or cancellations).

Updated with stats through last night. Nothing too interesting since the last update 4 games ago, although she did pass Carleton and Olson to become #6 in career rebounds.

At her current rate (barring injury/cancellations):
  • She will hit 2000 points in two games (Jan 11 @ KSU). She is 35 points away.
  • She will break the career scoring record in 9 or 10 games (Feb 5 v. OSU or Feb 12 @ TCU). She is 184 points behind Welle.
  • She will hit 1000 career rebounds in 11 games (Feb 16 @ Texas). She is 103 rebounds away.

Updated with two more games. Notes:
  • Ashley is now a member of the 2,000-point club. If I did my math right, it happened on her layup with 8:07 left in Q3 vs KSU.
  • She passed Lindsey Wilson to enter the top 5 in FGM.
  • She passed Tara Gunderson to enter the top 10 in 3FGA.
  • She became the second Cyclone to make 500 FT (after Welle).
At her current rate (barring injury/cancellations):
  • She will break the career scoring record in 7 games (Feb 5 v. OSU). She is 136 points behind Welle.
  • She will hit 1000 career rebounds in 9 games (Feb 16 @ Texas). She is 84 rebounds away.

Updated with three more games (of course, Ashley sat one of them out). Notes:
  • Ashley passed Tonya Burns to enter the top 5 in career rebounds
  • I'm now assuming she plays in 31 games this season, which would mean she plays in every remaining scheduled game plus one Big 12 Tournament game and one NCAA Tournament game. This might seems a bit pessimistic (zero postseason wins) but there's a real chance a game gets cancelled or she has to miss another one or something else similar.
At her current rate (barring injury/cancellations/quarantines):
  • She will break the career scoring record in 6 games (Feb 16 @ Texas). She is 105 points behind Welle.
  • She will hit 1000 career rebounds in 8 games (Feb 23 @ Kansas). She is 72 rebounds away.
  • Both of these are later than the prior estimate. This is because she missed one game entirely and had below-average points and rebounds in the other two games since the prior update.

It's a bummer now that record will fall during a road game.

Yeah, to say that attendance struggled would be an understatement. They would count everyone in the building: fans, players, coaches, managers, officials, scoring table personnel, ushers, tech staff, media, concession stand employees and custodians - and then add in a chunk of phantom people for good measure. The count after all of those gymnastics was still in hundreds even on a good day.
Actually, no we didn't-that would be too much effort. I was on the scorer's table and one of my tasks was to set the "official" attendance. I would look around and pull a number out of my rear. Usually in the 200-400 range just to make it sound plausible.

I remember watching a few games back in in the 81-85 timeframe...about 100 of us...maybe 200 on a good day when we would play someone decent. Always sat in row 3 opposite the team benches...just about on the center line. Unfortunately, it was usually good study time...
I was a freshman in 1981. My roommate was from Corning and his HS girlfriend played at William Penn. ISU hosted WPU at Hilton on a weekday afternoon and there couldn’t have been 100 people in the house! We sat directly behind the William Penn bench and eventually I tapped the head coach on the shoulder and asked her to put in the roommate‘s girlfriend - she did! Good times!
