Guess the Naismith lean-to didn't get it done tonight. Maybe the should have moved it over to the barn so they'd at least have a record crowd.
Seeded teams that did NOT make it to the Sweet 16 from their own courts:
#5 Kansas (eliminated by Creighton in 5)
#9 Michigan State (eliminated by Arizona in 5)
#11 Florida (eliminated by Florida State in 5)
#14 Kansas State (eliminated by Ohio State in 5)
So, the remaining teams playing in the tournament are:
#1 Nebraska vs. #16 Penn State
#2 Minnesota vs. #15 Missouri
#3 Wisconsin vs. Ohio State
#4 Texas vs. #13 BYU
Creighton vs. #12 Michigan
#6 Stanford vs. Florida State
#7 North Carolina vs. #10 UCLA
#8 Washington vs. Arizona
6 Big 10 schools advanced, along with 4 Pac 12, 2 ACC, 1 SEC, 1 Big 12, 1 Big East, 1 WCC
I was surprised at how easily we were beaten. I don't think Texas will go anywhere either. The Big 12 has some work to do.
I was surprised we could not shut #20 down. It isn't like we haven't seen hitters like her but we had no answer at all.
Good games should be
Creighton vs. #12 Michigan Creighton has a good chance
#7 North Carolina vs. #10 UCLA
#1 Nebraska vs. #16 Penn State and
#3 Wisconsin vs.Ohio State
I hate to root for the Huskers in anything but we know a couple girls on the team so... Nebraska is not going to let MN get the better of them again. I know so many people that turned their match off when NU was up two sets and 23-20 in the third. NU thought they had it won but no lead is safe in this sport. We were involved in a 3rd set 14-9 comeback win last year so literally anything can happen. If you are on the winning side it is what you love about volleyball. If you are on the losing side an equal amount of dissapointment.
Purdue beat Kansas at home, and Stanford on the road, so I figured it would be a tough one.
The first two sets were close and Iowa State could have, and probably should have, won the first set. Other than blocking Cuttino, Iowa State played really well. She just hit over the block all match.

I wish they would have not put Nebraska and Wisconsin games so early. I guess I should have taken the day off. No interest in any of the 1:30 or 3:30 games today at all.
was just thinking I should grab tickets to the UW game to see Carlini play in person again but that start time kinda ends that.
Penn State wins 1st set 25-23 they are solo blocking the Huskers which I did not think was possible.
As Harry Caray would say Holy Cow!
Now they're up 2-0 - the Nittany Lions are playing like a team possessed.
They might wish they had closed the deal there.
Wow. It looks like Penn State blew it. Serving up 24-22 after winning the first two sets and then giving up 4 straight points. Now down 6-10 in the 5th. Wow.
ESPNU and Nebraskagolia wins in 5. Sick.
On ESPNU now Wisky vs Ohio State.
All to predictable
Wisconsin took it in 5. Was watching stats and looked like a hell of a game. 3rd set went to 31-29. Final set was 15-13, close from beginning to end. Carlini with something like 7 blocks.
Coworker earlier in the week (and UW fan) asked me how I thought UW would do against OSU and I'm like oh they've got this. Ha, bit closer than I thought it'd be!
Looks like Texas won a close first set 25-23 with a 4-0 run to finish the set.
