Sounds like the Coyotes are ready to play some football....

South Dakota's Athletics Director David Herbster says, "While we cannot eliminate all risk associated with athletic competition, we are making every effort to provide as safe an environment as possible while allowing each attendee to determine if they are comfortable attending our events." 16July2020

The gauranteed payout for South Dakota playing the game is a smooth $475,000.
Which is what ISU should pay them if the Big 12 decides to go with a conference only schedule. They are clearly ready to hold up their end of the agreement.

FWIW: The Hawkeyes should reimburse ISU for any lost revenue from the Cy-Hawk game because they canceled.

Edit: Only people that are going to win are the lawyers because conferences and the NCAA can't get their **** together and work together to come up with a solution that protects player safety and still allows the games to be played.

I am sure there is an out for us in the contract, if not outright cancellation than a buyout or arbitrated settlement. There is zero chance we are paying them $500k if the Big 12 opts out like the Big 10 has. The Akron/Nebraska and S. Dakota State/Iowa State storm games were a little different since the visiting schools had traveled to the game and the ISU game was even underway.

Not sure how the Hawk game revenues will be worked out. Prior to 2012 the home team paid out 20% of gate. 2012 through 2017, the home team kept gate receipts. Iowa is going to want the game at their digs in 2021. Doubt that happens since they are the conference cancelling. But they will try.

The new 20 minute Covid test results should at least lessen the risk for players.

I saw the story yesterday. Not sure where.

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/07/200717101037.htm

Found it.
"Funding is required in order to perform full clinical evaluation across many samples and sites. With commercial support, we can begin to manufacture and roll out this assay to the communities that need it. This can take as little as six months depending on the support we receive."

Seems like we have a ways to go before there's enough for every football player to have this test available...

Iowa can EBOD if they want the game in 2021...that would give them 8 home games and Iowa State 5...f that.

The new contract between EIU and ISU states that each team will collect all funds when the game is in their stadium, so ISU loses nothing for not playing at EIU this fall.

EIU can WANT the game in IC in 2021 all they want, but the contract states it will be played in Ames. If the game is switched to IC, then that throws off the number of home games for each school from that point on. Next year ISU will only have 4 home conference games, Iowa would have 5 home conference games and 8 total home games if that is the case of 2021. Only way to make it work and reset the schedule would be for EIU to host games at home in 2021 and 2022, which ISU would never allow to happen.

They will try because Bartas ineptitude and their financial problems will get super real at that point. That said, JP will answer that phone call about like this:

Before the Big 10 cancelled their nonconference games, Tennessee Tech (FCS) was scheduled to play Minnesota on September 12th. Thats the same day the Cyclones were supposed to be playing the Hawkeyes in IC before they quit too. Maybe the Golden Eagles would like to keep all their travel arrangements and just shuttle down I35 to Ames for a primetime game in a great atmoshere? Go Cyclones!! It's going to be a great year!!

* Minnesota was going to pay them $450,000 for the game.
