Just spoke with an Oklahoma State official and was told Brad Underwood flew back with the team after the Michigan game Friday, landing at 8 pm CT. There was no indication he was leaving. School official was stunned and learned about his hiring at Illinois via twitter.

Chizik move right there. Some of his (Chiz's) assistants found out while sitting in airports watching the ESPN ticker, while heading to recruiting stops. Others in the Football Dept of the AD found out via the same ESPN ticker during the ISU-Iowa basketball game on Friday night and I believe the hire was "official" by Saturday.

Now wonder he looked so happy in his post game press conference.
Bad look for the OSU AD unless Underwood is just a flat out jerk to work with.

Boone probably controls the AD. Probably didn't let him spend the $$ toward the basketball program.

Sound like a possibility. Curious to see what he ends up making at Illinois.
From Sam Mayes Twitter

"what im hearing negotiations didn't go well for underwoods camp. They wanted league average. Holder wasnt close to meeting it. @FranchiseOK"

leaving for 350% raise is one thing, but not even telling the AD first or listening to a counteroffer is a character thing.

At this point there's no evidence he DIDN'T tell the AD. Who knows how high this "unnamed school official" is in the athletic department. Also, if he is getting $3.5 million at Illinois there's just no way OSU was going to match that.

Have you seen their basketball facility? It's ridiculously nice...Boone shelled out for that.

The AD must not want to shell out big bucks for a coach...hope he keeps that mindset.

I will never understand that.
If you already have issues with the employer, how is that going to get any better by telling them you're talking to someone else?

If that current employed already lowballed you in negotiations, why bother with them? Let them deal with their own failed character.
