That stuff is pure gold.

6 pages on a fired employee in the AD that happened years ago?
This is why I come here, you just cannot beat the amount of Hawkeye discussion around here.

Who represented the Iowa AD in this case? Who pays for that?
Oh, the Iowa Attorney General. Me.
I'm actually more interested due to the implications of female employee treatment in a field that has been largely dominated by men. It garnered my attention due to social media posts by friends of mine who don't even live in this state.6 pages on a fired employee in the AD that happened years ago?

I am going to guess Tom Miller was going to get paid his $123,669 in 2017 regardless of whether the lawsuit ever came about or not.
and? Does that mean taxes paid any less of the salaries in the AG's office?
And regardless, I love that you're trying to downplay this story, dismissing the discussion as some some rivalry drivel. Can you actually admit that this is a big story in the state? One of the most high profile people at one of the state's major universities was found to have acted in a discriminatory manner, in a court of law. And considering the other pending lawsuit, and the fact that Meyer's attorneys are asking the judge for more money, this might only be the tip of the iceberg. It's a big deal in this state. There have been articles on all kinds of news outlets, both local and national. Why in the world wouldn't you think this would be a topic of discussion?
It seems to me that it would be hard for Griesbaum to settle - part of her civil suit is for her reinstatement as Iowa field hockey coach.I hope the firing of the field hockey coach goes to trial and doesn't settle out. It will be fun to hear them compare how mean she was to her players compared to the shenanigans of the male coaches.

Then move it to the General College Sports forum or the Off Topic forum if it is such a huge story.
And if it was such a big story for all those concerned here, why weren't there any posts about the trial before the verdict was announced?

lol, what the heck does it matter what forum it's in? Pure semantics. Because it's in the In-state rivals forum, that means it's not a big story? Give me a break. If I move it to the General College forum, will it make you happy? Will it soothe your chapped little bottom?
And there was a thread back when the lawsuit was announced. And then this one, when the decision was handed down. I for one, was following the stuff coming out of Lestikow and Emmert, and on talk radio, but all of the coverage made it sound like Meyer was getting her butt handed to her, and didn't have a chance. I was shocked to hear about the unanimous verdict. That was not the picture that the media had portrayed. In my opinion, the shock at the nature of the verdict has contributed to the largeness of this story as much as anything.

You're entitled to your opinion, just like anyone else.Sure ya are...sure it did.
I would agree with that - especially with what came out in the Greisbaum trial - of student-athletes' claims of mental, physical, and even sexual abuse by other sport coaches that went uninvestigated by Barta. You can always trade less money for job or more money for no job. There has to be a value to Hawkland of not examining all of their coaches' conduct on the stand.
So this massive state wide story only generated posts when the suit was brought forward and when the University of Iowa was found guilty? Got it...big news around here it sounds like.
I would wager that if the verdict was not guilty, there would not have been a thread started at all.
So, let me get this straight, you don't think this is a big story?
Lay it on out for us, guy. Is this a big deal or isn't it? What's your opinion on the reaction to the outcome? There are still multiple stories about it, on the Des Moines Register's sports section website. Are they just overreacting? Or engaging in rivalry smacktalk? What's your take? What should the appropriate level of discussion be?
Also, I trust we won't find any threads on the Bubo Palo trial or Steven Leath's airplane hijinks on any Iowa message board, will we?
