I realize it's been posted in the Cyclones in the NBA thread, but this deserves its own discussion.

How long has it been since Iowa State had an NBA all-star?

Congratulations to a great player and Cyclone!

Well deserved. He is top 15 in pretty much every offensive efficiency stat and top five in quite a few.

In addition to obviously being 1st in assists and top 5 in steals.

Looking at the players above and below him in those efficiency stats is insane.

I have to think he may eventually be starting point guard on US Olympic team if healthy. He's already had great success with USA basketball and is the ideal player for an all star team and the international game.

When you take out the international stars it's pretty clear he's a top ten American basketball player which is incredible.

This is awesome.

Fan voting is such a popularity contest. Tyrese one of those players that got much more support from the media and other players - which is obviously a much more informed opinion and not biased against small market teams.

Glad to see this happen for him. It’s well deserved.

Have we ever had an all-star before?

The first time I saw Tyrese warming up at Hilton I was thinking more Steve Urkel than All-Star. Wow is he something else.

With Brock, Monte, Georges, Breece, Dave M, Alan and Tyrese, it's a great time to be a Cyclone. I am watching more pro sports than ever.

Testifying
Didn't realize it's been since Horny. I thought Jamaal maybe made one.

Thought the Pacers would be a better spot for him but he’s really taken off there. He’s literally got the world in front of him, it’s awesome to have an ISU all star to watch.

31 years - literally 'once in generation'

There are fewer American All Stars every year too so it’s actually getting harder per school to get players in league, starters and all stars.

You could argue outside of Embiid the other top three players didn’t play ncaa.

Extremely deserved, was a little concerned with the injury and missed games with the competition for those last guards spots but awesome to see.

I've been pumping him to my clueless Iowa buddies for years...glad to be right. So happy for him and big time for our PG U program.

I followed the Lakers@Pacers game tonight. So disappointing — Pacers led comfortably til the end and lost 112-111. But you know Tyrese is for real when he puts up 26 and 12 his first game back after missing 10 games with an injury. He belongs.
Not sure if you saw highlights but he had a couple of plays that were just incredible.

Here is one…
