That's what is so baffling about the hawk loss in relation to those two horrid Cyclone defeats in the past. Iowa State losing to Milwaukee and FAMU can be explained away with the just bad ISU team logic, but Iowa lost to Eastern Illinois in the midst of an NCAA tournament type of season because...? Just doesn't make any sense. You sure would've thought that loss paired with getting blasted by Nebraska shortly after, and then losing a starter for several weeks shortly after that would've tanked Iowa's season. Yet here we are in early February and they are still safely in the field.
I'm really not sure what you're talking about. Weird **** happens in CBB, especially when you have horrendous flaws(Iowa's defense). Both of those teams finished last in the Big 12 as well. Enough proof to say they sucked

For example, our flaws here were that Steve Prohm was an utter ******* head coach.

I think this might be Frans best coaching job. Would have been easy to lose that team after losing to EIU, Neb, and Wisconsin. Did a great job turning it around.

Yes Hassel said he believes the atmosphere in Carver was better than the atmosphere in Hilton today.

Probably says more about his expectations of both arenas before the game. He expected Hilton to be crazy and Carver to be dead.

Really? I don’t see them losing too many games the rest of the way. Maybe Purdue (who sure as hell doesn’t look dominant right now). They’ll probably get to Des Moines and finally make a Sweet Sixteen just by hitting their free throws.
Iowa has played 5 out of their last 7 at home…
Iowa isn't bad. But Iowa isn't great either. But that being said, as good as they were the past couple of years I think THIS is the year they make the Sweet Sixteen...or at least have the best chance to. So many good/not great teams. However if they face a physical team, they're toast.
Iowa has not been good outside of Carver… at home they are stupid efficient offensively and they shoot really really well in that building.

The hours in practice devoted to arm flailing drills really pay off.

Yeah Iowa is not a bad basketball team. That take is dumb. The Big 10 is stocked full of average to slightly above average basketball teams. Iowa has done a good job of benefiting from that and taking care of business against teams that are similar to them.

And again they are able to do what they’re doing mainly because they have a guy who should be playing in the NBA this year (22 and got screwed out of playing time last year) and two 25 year olds.

Yeah I’ll make fun of Rebraca because he’s legit old lol but our team as a whole is old too. Kris has definitely helped his stock so far though by coming back.

Best player on the team though during this nice stretch by Iowa has been Sandfort. He’s changed the team. He’s gone from almost unplayable to hitting dagger threes.

Yes Sandfort’s been a difference maker for sure. Kris may have not needed to boost his stock this year if he hadn’t played half(!) the minutes his brother did last year.

Seems like this thing is yearly auto-repeat about them being "good".

The same people lead the cheers every year.

well yeah, when you average over 24 Free throws per game at home. That alone probably gives you a +7-8 point advantage.

Good is subjective but I think it’s a stretch calling them good.
