Not exactly sure.
So many different things go into games and it's a lot more complex than simply boiling it down to one coach out coaching the other. The issues Iowa State had in the Iowa game are the exact same issues we've had essentially every single game all year long. That game wasn't decided by an exploited matchup or a defensive scheme. Iowa didn't confuse us or knock us off our game plan. They were simply better. If you wanted to say Fran has done a better job than Steve this year, you'd be right. But to say Fran flat out out coached Prohm wouldn't be accurate.

Hawk fans are simple. You need to stay simple with them and. Type. Slowly. So. They. Can. Keep. Up.

Well **** is getting deep now.

How on earth would you know this?
Because I have friends that go to the U of I and are friends with guys on the basketball team. They talk.

From an outsider's perspective it's not hard to understand why they feel the way they do about him. They put up with him, tolerate him, but don't like him.

Iowa State missed open shots. Iowa made theirs. Defensively, Fran had Iowa rolling on all cylinders and nothing Steve tried to do to stop them was working. But he hasn't been able to stop anyone all year, so...
I won't say Iowa "got lucky" by any means, but the lid was tight for ISU that night. They had good looks all game long.
Yeah Iowa didn't get lucky. We were letting them score at will because they're good and we're terrible defensively. We've gotten pretty good looks all year long, we just don't have the guys to knock them down, ie: we're not a good shooting team either.

Real question: How quickly will things sour if Iowa ends up with 11 or 12 regular season losses?
I think it's going to be hard for Iowa to actually not end up with 11 regular season losses.. They're 17-8. They have 6 games left, all against Q1 teams. 3 are on the road and 2 are against Top-25 opponents (Michigan State might get ranked which would make it 3 ranked teams).

Iowa is going to be very shorthanded and is going to need a lot of help from guys that haven't been asked to do much so far this year.

I'd drive down (too cold to walk today) to the casino right now, and put serious money on Iowa losing 11. They will have 12 losses after the Big 10 tourney at minimum. I think they are safe for the big tournament if they can keep it at or below that number. Probably a good candidate for that 8/9 line.

Yeah I have no idea how they'll fair without CJ.. They'd have to play extremely well in this stretch of 6 games to go .500 or above imo. With how deep the Big 10 is, they're probably going to end up getting a tough matchup in the Big 10 Tournament and if they lose in the first or second round of that, I'd assume they'll be around that 7-8-9 seed line. That'd be a tough draw to have to possibly play a 1 or a 2 seed in the second round of the NCAA tournament with the success they've had so far this season.

The complete media blackout on the CJF injury feels negative.

They are saying its a high ankle sprain, and he will be out 5 to 6 weeks, but he is also a fast healer, what ever that means and could be back quicker.

As a former coach, I have had kids with this type of injury, if that is what it is, and really it takes 2 to 3 months before they get back to normal again. Hard to pivot and push off the leg, and its very easy to reaggravate it again.

If Iowa is lucky he will be back by the tournament, the questions is "how well will he play" after sitting out a month or more?

He nailed it in that article. Honestly, I just want Iowa to go up in flames this year and Fran gets canned. But I'm afraid even with that, it won't happen as long as Barta is running things.

I won't get to watch today but I'll be rooting for Minnesota with you today
