Wherever I go, there I am.
dammit. All good reviews. My wife was wanting one too, and I've been fighting getting another kitchen appliance in the house.

Does anyone have any stories about the Instapot burning their house down, killing their family pet or performing satanic rituals?
Nope. They are simply awesome and you will like having one too, Cooler, once you do.

Wife keeps saying she wants to get one of these. I don't get it. What is the rage about these things? Is the cook time that is cut back or what? We got an air fryer a couple of years ago and we really like it. We already have like four different crock pots in the house. I need some convincing reviews from folks that have one. I even see there is even a ninja brand instapot. We already have the ninja blender and coffee maker, I don't think we need another ninja appliance in our house. TIA!!

We dont have the insta pot but a pressure cooker is awsome, rice and beans are cheap, a whole chicken for soup, salad or the freezer in less than 15 minutes. I take our brined turkey bones at holidays and feel guilty cause it makes the most wonderful broth. Beef bones do the same thing. Convenient? Nope. pressure a chicken and you cant handle it for a long time just gets so hot. Rice and beans perfect every time. More of a cold weather appliance.

Haven't read this thread, so I don't know if I'll get hated on for this.....

My wife absolutely had to have one. Got herself one on Black Friday and she loves it. I don't usually cook the suppers, so I don't complain to her, but.... I think it sucks. It's like a crockpot for people who don't plan ahead. The meat comes out dry and it's just another freaking appliance we have to store.

I don't get it.

Hint to her about shredded beef, pork or chicken recipes rather than huge chunks of meat. I don't eat beef or pork anymore because of cholesterol but there would be a ton of amazing shredded beef and pork recipes if I did.

The stuff I make with it could be consumed without chewing it is so tender.

Chicken thighs fat dissolves completely into the dish and is much better than chicken breast. My local grocery store has run out of chicken thighs a lot lately and I think it is because of instant pot trend.

Get rid of your aforementioned crock pots and you'll be net ahead.

My wife likes ours a lot. We got the big one. (8qt?) Can do the crock pot things and do the instant pot things with the pressure cooking without a bunch of "if you do this wrong your house will blow up" warnings from normal pressure cooker.

This is good:

I don't know how the meat could possibly come out dry? For recipes like carnitas I like to stick it under a broiler to give it that "crisp" and dry it out a bit. That would be my only complaint for the instantpot...you won't get that nice sear. As I mentioned before, I do a ton of chicken in that thing and then eat shredded chicken for the week. It's a completely sealed system so it's impossible for moisture to escape...

Not exactly sure.
Had a couple people who had them make supper for us. Felt like it was school lunch. It was some noodle/chicken stuff that was a lumpy paste. Made the kids chicken nuggets and they were like baby hockey pucks.

Stuck with the crock pots, get a decent one and it doesn't take much to just load in the morning and walk away.

Two things:
1. I love that you people call it supper. My wife gives me **** for doing the same but I don't care.
2. We use the InstaPot for hard boiled eggs, rice, mashed potatoes, yogurt, and soups. All come as good or better than any other way of cooking.
