To reheat leftover pizza, it is awesome. I've cooked a lot of chicken breasts with it and some of the most flavorful I've ever had and they aren't even dried out. Just did some pizza rolls for lunch. Less than 10 minutes to heat up. I've even reheated day old McDonald fries and were like they just came out of the fryer. Wife loves it for doing frozen fries, tater tots. The key is to add the season before or during the cooking process. We've used ours so much the handle is about to come apart as we've had it around 3 years now. No more oil smell in the house from deep frying either.

I guess I just don’t think it’s nearly the same as frying food in oil. I get that frying is a pain, and that’s why if I want fried food I go out to eat - I guess I think the air fryer is just completely different than deep fried food (and not nearly as good).

I bought one last Saturday. Have used it 3 times since then. Pot roast. Beef bone broth. And a blender soup. All things that took way less time than they normally did. With the saute function I've been able to developed nice fond in the bottom that deglazes when I add the liquid to pressure cook. Been happy so far. It's also only been a week.

Going to make stir fry tonight and see how it does with rice.

It makes cooking healthy foods easier and faster which is a nice plus.

I don’t love mine, I still go for my crock pot over the Instant Pot. I do love it for hard boiled eggs. But the first time I tried chicken breasts from frozen they turned out rubbery, didn’t heat my ham all the way through for Easter, not always a time saver for me. It does take time to pressurize, so things aren’t always in an Instant.
I will use mine occasionally but definitely not every week.

My mom likes hers and I should probably look into them because it sounds like they save time. But then people like my mom are all I make X recipe which normally takes 4 hours and it's done in 30 minutes and I am unconvinced that it's not witchcraft. Stuff needs time to simmer to get delicious flavors.

I need to use my crockpot more............have like one recipe I use. Everything online looks like cream of crap and I want things that are actually tasty and halfway decent for you.

Now get off my lawn.

I use it for mexican style shredded chicken and chicken soup a lot.

Everything takes 30 minutes with some steps before and after, so faster than slow cooker but not exactly "FAST". 10 to pressurize, 6-10 to cook absolutely anything, 10 to depressurize.

Anything takes about 40-50 minutes start to finish, nothing takes longer than that and a lot of this stuff is the type of thing that would take hours.

There are definitely some things people cook with it where it doesn't even save time because of the pressure up and pressure down.

It's really good and really hard to mess up. Also, real, fresh grated Parmesan is a MUST instead of the dehydrated canned stuff. I don't add it to the InstantPot, I always top when serving.

The one thing I've ran into is lots of recipes act like you can just throw in dry spices and not worry about mixing it up. With wet ingredients this is true that it kind of self mixes but dry spices need to be stirred in well or the thing starts burning and turns off.

dammit. All good reviews. My wife was wanting one too, and I've been fighting getting another kitchen appliance in the house.

Does anyone have any stories about the Instapot burning their house down, killing their family pet or performing satanic rituals?

I made some pretty bad-ass indian food with WAAAAY too much spice for me. So there was a satanic ritual of sorts performed in my bathroom that next morning. Does that help?

Wife keeps saying she wants to get one of these. I don't get it. What is the rage about these things? Is the cook time that is cut back or what? We got an air fryer a couple of years ago and we really like it. We already have like four different crock pots in the house. I need some convincing reviews from folks that have one. I even see there is even a ninja brand instapot. We already have the ninja blender and coffee maker, I don't think we need another ninja appliance in our house. TIA!!

Wife is making world class soups with that thing. Helping to take the winter edge off.

Also mashed potatoes are outstanding. It's a pretty awesome appliance.

That and our air fryer

Where they love the governor
We did a roast with potatoes at the same time. Turned out fantastic - no way to dry it out, very tender and flavorful. And the potatoes were great as well.

I have done beer brats in it as well. Be careful, they can leak if they're in too long.

It makes some great chili and other assorted soups, really good mac and cheese too.

Get one. Awesome time saver on things that normally take an hour plus and requires multiple pans, etc. We use ours at least once a week.

Haven't read this thread, so I don't know if I'll get hated on for this.....

My wife absolutely had to have one. Got herself one on Black Friday and she loves it. I don't usually cook the suppers, so I don't complain to her, but.... I think it sucks. It's like a crockpot for people who don't plan ahead. The meat comes out dry and it's just another freaking appliance we have to store.

I don't get it.

We really like ours and I wished we used it more. Killer pot roast and potatoes/onions/carrots, chicken enchilada soup, chicken and noodles, pork chops and potatoes just to name a few.
Like others have said the thing I hate about it is the cooking time is not representative of the actual time it takes to come up to pressure and then the time to cook actually starts. When you set the time, say 10 min cook time, then when the lid goes on it may take 7-10 to come up to pressure so actually a “10 min” cook will take about 17-20 min to actually cook.

I know two people with one, my daughter and a friend at work. They both swear by theirs. My daughter invited me to dinner and cooked a noodle dish that was done in 20 minutes in hers. It usually takes that long just to cook the noodles, but she threw all the ingredients in the pot at once and it was done, no muss, no fuss. I thought the noodles were a little undercooked, myself, and my friend at work says it's better for some things than for others. But he swears by it too. He made chili in his and some other things. He also just got an air fryer and he really likes that too, especially for French fires. He's big on his cast iron skillet as well.
