What kind of game does Monte have? I think the way CFH wants to play it requires a 3pt threat at the point.

I really doubt we see a dramatic decrease in our turnover numbers in this system. I think it will just be this way. I compare Thomas to Stauskas. He was a starter day one on a team with more spots solidified and over a guy who played quite a bit last year. I see Thomas being the same and I think Morris starts day 1 as well assuming his shooting is in order. Ejim, at this point is out "non scorer" in that he isn't likely to create a lot and if you throw Bubu in the lineup then you have two of them. I could easily see SDW starting as well. I do think we will have more guys to throw out there next year but I don't know if we will shoot it as well.

I disagree strongly. We kicked the ball off our feet multiple times in every game and we had many passes that were VERY stupid this year. All IQ.

Morris is a winner and he can close out games. I just hope he's ready to do it at the next level right away!

It was part of team this year. I honsetly don't think IQ was the big issue.

I'm just excited based on what I've seen. Can't wait to see the new guards and CFH will always find the mismatches. We are definitely up and comers, Kansas knows it, that's why they put so much into our games this year. A good showing in the tournament let the nation and recruits know it as well. The ball bounces a little differently we are on the path to a final four.

I think it's probably an issue when Hoiberg says Niang has the highest IQ a week into practices when he is playing with 4 5th year seniors.

Yep. If MT and MM have similar b-ball IQ's to Niang it will be a pretty fun year

Really don't see Ejim playing the 3 at any point next year. I just don't think Melvin is quick enough to consistently guard the perimeter. Also, with Ejim, Niang, and Percy/Amardi all in at the same time we have three guys in there that operate through the post. I suppose that could work but it seems like it goes against Fred's spread the floor system. I believe we will always have 3 of Bubu, Monte, SDW, Thomas, Naz, Bluford and Hogue on the floor.

A Different Type pf Team?

I can't imagine ISU having a comparable group of jump shooters as McGee, Babb, Clyburn and Lucious next year. IMO McGee is one of the top 3 point shooters at ISU over the last 30 years.

Next years team will be a solid shooting team, but to be an upper tier Big 12 team, I think pressure defense, solid on ball defense and maybe a shot blocker like Amardi can get us back to the NCAA Tournament.

I know Fred shortened his bench in March- but if the Frosh are good, I could see Fred go with the hockey line approach. Next 5 in.

In terms of coaches its Hoiberg and Self at the top and then everyone else in the Big 12. That should be enough to have another 22-10 season.

(Although the rest of the coaches bar Scott Drew aren't bad at all Ford, Johnson, Weber, Barnes, Huggie are all pretty good.)

I said it eariler today and sober I realize that this is crazy, but I'll say it again. I am not so sure that Hoiberg isn't already a better game coach than the great Bill Self. He owned the game plan twice against KU. He had a hell of a plan against ND and Ohio State today (we freaking almost won without Babb for god's sake). He doesn't have KU's talent or KU's refs but I think Self knows Fred is on his tail.

Would be cool if we could go with a pressing line up. Something like Monte, Naz, Bubu, Ejim, and idk Amardi. Just do it in short spurts during the game and see if we can force some turnovers and get some easy buckets.

Kruger? He has that program headed in a good direction.

Fred is great, but is still learning. He will take ISU to a Final Four before he leaves. But don't forget that we lost a lot of leads in conference play and should have went 15-3. This was a great coaching job, but we were still 1-1.

i believe that his 2-2 tourney recprd makes fred our 3rd or 4th winningest ncaa tournament coach and his .500 winning % is up in that area as well

Bob Huggins is a future hall-of-famer. And how many teams has Lon Kruger taken to the tournament?

two of those losses, I don't exactly blame on Fred.

Again, I realize it is somewhat crazy, but he is who he is.

I have been bragging up Fred, but next year we will have to remember he will be working with young guys. Not seniors. Not men like Babb and Korie and Will.
