I love stories like this. This is what makes college fun. Now that I am older I cant do stuff like this anymore but I am all for kids doing it. Student stole his helmet and proceded to walk around Iowa City and drink and take pictures with it. The interview with the kid is pretty funny also.

Iowa City Police officer: “Excuse me, where did you get that helmet?”
Me: “The Iowa Store.”
Iowa City Police officer: “I’ve never heard of that. Where’d you get all those stickers?”
Me: “I put them on myself?”
Iowa City Police officer: “There’s about 10 helmets missing, and one of them is C.J.’s and that says #16.”
Me: “He’s my favorite player so I bought his stickers.”
Iowa City Police Officer: “You can either give me the helmet or I can arrest you.”

When Beathard ran onto the field and saw him throw down his helmet I figured somebody might try to get out of the stadium with it.

If I was younger I would have done it. We also used to tear the goal posts down. We did not think of that as destruction of our own teams property. Crap just needed to be throwin in the lake. Nebraska game anyone? haha

I was at Kinnick 79 or 80 (can't remember). ISU won and State fans rushed the field and tore down the goalposts. Some ISU students were walking around the field carrying an upright. We told them tho give it to us and then we lowered it to some kids outside the stadium. The last I saw it it was heading down Melrose. I sure wish I would have had a cell phone back then to take a picture.

Kid seems pretty smart although if you think I would have gotten a real helmet from someone like KO and gotten it to my apartment only to be coaxed into bringing it back out, your nuts. I don't care about my friends enough to not keep that. Hell, my roomates wouldn't even know I had it until I was gone, gone.

Well it was a pretty hilariously stupid moment in the rivalry, have to take every opportunity.

My favorite part was the Iowa AD acting like a baby calling our Big 12 opponents and then it turns out his own students are criminals. It could go 100 years before anybody in the rivalry does anything as pathetic as that.
