I think that they went a little too far going multi-cultural from the preview I watched. It's Wisconsin.
this is based in a fictional city near Kenosha.

here is 2000 census data from kenosha: The racial makeup of the city was 83.6% White, 7.7% African American, 0.4% Native American, 1.0% Asian, <0.1% Pacific Islander, 4.8% from other races and 2.4% from two or more races.

its not that far off to have some friends of color

Didn't we already have this and it's called "Friends" or "Seinfeld"?

It will be interesting to see if it seems aesthetically similar to Friends.

As absurd as Seinfeld could be it also was very realistic take on urban life in many ways. Just a week ago I saw the exact same car parking confrontation.

"That 70's Show" was entertaining because it had interesting/relatable-ish characters and decent stories that were placed in the context of 70's culture. I suspect that like most sequels/spin-offs, the executives totally misunderstood what made the original popular so "That 80's Show" ended up essentially being a series of memes rather than a coherent story. I thought "The Goldbergs" did a good job with the 80's like "That 70's Show," "The Wonder Years" with 60's culture and "All In The Family" with the 50's culture.

Freaks and Geeks one season is practically fine art doing this for early 80s or late 70s. The show was too good for network tv audiences but too early for the quality cable tv/streaming revolution. Should have won every Emmy.

One of the if not the best show to only get a season.

I think most people involved are doing OK though.

I was going to crap on the ages of the characters. Like no way the cast of 70s show could have teenage kids because they're just a little older than I am. But then...

I feel so bad for Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp trying their damndest to prop that show up. Holy hell that looks Disney channel sitcom level of bad.

Just watched it. I'd give it a 7/10. There's funny moments and cringe moments. The original cast doesn't interact with each other much. I think they missed an opportunity to have them all together in the circle again.

I'll pass on the off chance Kutcher shows up in the show at some point. Never forget!

I haven't fully vested my time into CGD since this joke of an episode.

Well Danny Masterson has been in some legal troubles so him being involved would be problematic. He was removed from Netflix show The Ranch over them.

Saw a few clips and it actually didn't look as bad as I expected

The one review I saw said it did a decent job of balancing the nostalgia of the original while still focusing on the new teens and what growing up in the early to mid 90's was like.

I think I'm about halfway through. It's fine. Not as good as the original, but still worth watching, IMO. It's definitely not as relatable, since I'm obviously no longer the same age as the main characters of the show, and the original cast are (basically) all married with kids and dealing with things that I haven't. But if nothing else, I'm here for all the Red and Kitty dialogue I can get.
