Can you update?

Well, Clark has been eliminated, and those standings were up at 9:20, which I thought was odd when I pulled them up. :)

I believe we are in 2nd with 25, 4.5 behind Iowa. Although I don't know Nebraska's total for sure.

There's a poll on InterMat: Wrestling from every angle for who's going to win the title. It doesn't even list ISU as an option, only IA, NE, OSU, MN, C-MI and other.

While polls mean nothing, I would think a wrestling web site would recognize ISU as being a top 5 squad and offer the choice.

I voted other.

I voted other too. What a joke. Probably a Squawk fan behind that somewhere.

Varner's one favorite although no guarantee as he's got some good competition in his bracket and wrestles a style that doesn't have a lot of room for error.

Who else do we think may have a shot at taking a title or even be in the title match? I'm not that confident we have any other number 1 or 2 wrestlers but hopeful someone can wrestler their way into the championship match.

I really thought Cyler might come on strong in the tourney but so far had the biggest defeat. He's a scorer though and might have a good wrestle back and pick up some bonus points.

Then Bertolino, who I wouldn't have banked on so far is wrestling very well and can be a dangerous wrestler. He also has the ability to score bonus points although the chance of gaining bonus points going forward will be tough as he's up against the best competition now.

Any ideas who might step up like Varner did last year and surprise some people?

Cyler's loss was as disappointing as Bert's was a pleasant surprise.

Realistically, Varner will likely be our only champ.

If I HAD to bet on one other having a shot, it would be Fanthorpe for me, but he needs to get by a couple guys that have beaten him.
