I would assume they turned it down. You would think Steffensmeier would have got offered before Stotts. Not sure what it cost each wrestler, but I do see there is a GoFundMe page.

Thomsen and his coaches are extremely particular about his training cycles as they want to put him in the best position for Junior World Team Trials and to win another Fargo title. It's no surprise that he declined.

Teske likes to take a breather after the season and after big events to let his body recover. That's why he decided to skip Fargo, because he trained for UWW Cadets and he didn't want to turn around and grind. I can't say what his exact reason for this because I didn't talk to him, but that's been his MO in the past.

What is your guys beef with someone asking why another relatively dominant in-state kid is not on Team Iowa? We get it, he's still going to U of I, but the question remains as relevant as the one asked about why Teske or Thompson aren't on the team. Unless this guy is just a troll or something

Athletically, Brands will get exposed at the D1 level IMO. His motor and attack rate allow him to dominate Iowa HS wrestling, he doesn't wrestle high level national tourneys..

Thomsen has placed at Fargo four times, and has won the Cliff Keen Preseason Nationals. Not the same scenario.

But I also think Brands will be fine in college. He seems to work hard, and while his non-stop mentality won’t have the same dominating effect as it did in high school, it’s still a good thing to have.

Alex Thomsen hasn't wrestled in national tourneys? Ummm..the kid has competed for Fargo titles on multiple occasions..
