One good player, that we consider good, usually makes it to the end. Then wins. Hopefully that is the case. I can only remember one time when a lady, blond lady, beat Russell and she did absolutely nothing all season and won because everyone hated Russell. Otherwise a good player normally wins. Maybe not the one I like or consider the best, but at least someone who can say they played a decent game.

I think you are talking about Natalie from the first season right? Yeah she was part of Russell's "dumb girls" alliance that basically just road his coat tail to the final. Personally I think Russell is possibly one of the best players in the shows history but his 1 flaw always seemed to be he pissed off just enough of the jury to never win it despite being the main person that orchestrated the events that put them there. He's probably one of the most polarizing players because he was such a villain yet most fans of the show probably thought he deserved to win at least 1 season I bet.

Yep, That was the worst ending to any reality show contest ever. Some girl that did nothing the whole season. She didn't even ride his coat tails. She just did nothing and won. They didn't even focus on her. Russell deserved that season big time. I realize he made some jury members mad but still. Giving someone who did zero the million dollars was a shame.

Kind of agree, but that's the trick. Finding a way to get to final tribal in a way where you're positioned to actually win the votes there. Russell might be the best ever at getting to final tribal, but the worst ever at securing votes at final tribal. So I don't know if that makes him a great player or a horrible player.

It's a little tricky though. Some people on jurys respect that type of game and some don't. Like Ben breaking out 3 Hidden Idols in a row and basically mocking everyone in the process. The jury took that as good game. Russell is just an unlikeable guy. Not sure if that type of guy has it in him to win jury votes. He has to get voted by the jury for his game play. You are right though. He is a master in situations, he was not a master in relationships.

The thing about Survivor is that every jury seems to vote differently. There have been people that won because of their strong game play even if they pissed off some people along the way the jury still respected their game play. There have been some jaded juries that got way too emotionally involved and voted for people that didn't play the game as well but were likable and played a good social game. I guess that is what keeps the show fresh is that there is no textbook way to play the game and win. There is a lot of luck involved with just having the right combination of personalities on the show with you that think the game should be a certain way and values your path more than what another season's jury may have thought. It's a balancing act to play all aspects of the game well but of them all the social part to me is the one I would weight the least if I was making a decision as a jury member. It's tough to get to the final 3 without doing some lying, backstabbing, or blindsiding or being competitive in challenges vs being a weaker player that people get along with and just keep around because they are easy votes along the way and make you look better when they get to the final 3 because they didn't win challenges or make bold moves.

As entertaining as it would be to see Russell give Survivor another shot I doubt he ever will because he's probably one of the most well-known contestants in the show's history and would have no shot in hell to make it that far based on his reputation. His nephew Brandon was a complete disaster both times he was on the show.

I agree. I think the jury expects some lying and backstabbing. I don't think they like people being a **** about it. That's where Russell sucked.

I think Devens and Gavin have the best argument to win right now but I think a darkhorse is Lauren.

Devens has done a good job of getting back in the game. Normally anytime someone get's voted off and comes back into a game. Nobody gives them a chance to win. However, he came back in swinging for the fences. Probably will cost him but he went for it and I appreciate that.

BTW everytime they show whats his name on extinction island or on the jury. He looks more and more like Jack Sparrow.

I think that there will only be 2 available spots for the finale from the group of people that are still playing. The last spot in the final 3 will come from one on “the edge”.

Devins is killing it and playing his ass off. It will be a shame if he doesn't win it this year. I am guessing if he doesn't he will still be the one people remember over the winner. Lauren, Vic, Julie really haven't done much of anything. Gavin has done more than them but still not close to Devins. It will be interesting to see who makes it back in.

One thing I'm disliking about this game is it seems like season after season when there is a person who needs an idol to stay in the game they just happen to find one. It stinks to me of production knowing what they have in a player and to keep them around as long as possible they sneak them an area in which to look.

I hope you're wrong...but we DO know that they push some narratives by selective editing...
