My suits are getting old and really don't fit too well anymore. Any suggestions on a good place to shop for new ones? Price vs. quality vs. selection?

This last summer, I bought 2 new, and very nice suits at S&K Men's wear. Very good service as well.

Men's warehouse has been great to me in Des Moines. I buy 10-15 suits a year, as I wear them everyday. I have bought from JC Penny's, Dillards, Younkers. All of those suits are nice and fit me right off the rack. You can catch some good sales at those places. For the money I would use Men's warehouse. The suits I buy there last a little longer and don't cost a helluva alot more.

Caveat: I don't know how they compare for price.

That said, I actually love buying a suit from Men's Warehouse. I am by no means rich or know what the "cool suit" is, but they treat me like any other person in there. They measure you up, fit you, and talk to you like you are the best customer they could ever have even though they probably know that isn't the case.

For me, Men's Warehouse. No other place even comes close.

My first two suits I ever bought were from S&K. The rest have been from Men's Warehouse. I agree that for your money, go Men's Warehouse. I also buy my dress shoes there, most comfortable dress shoes I have ever tried on.

I haven't bought a suit in a while, but I bought a couple of what I feel are very nice suits from S&K as well.

I plan on getting a couple suits here in the ME, before I go back. Prices are crazy affordable, the cloth is top notch, and it's custom tailored as labor is basically free.

They have some *interesting* ideas about style, but do good work on conservative suits, as well. I'm not really a "suit" kind of guy, normally.

I would support the Men's Wearhouse in Des Moines recommendation. I got a couple suits there 10 years ago and they are still in great shape.

Thanks for all the feedback. Sounds like Men's Wearhouse and S&K are the consensus picks.

I have been a fan of Jos. A Banks for 20 years. Good suits at reasonable prices

Im not a big suit wearer, but when I have needed some shirts and suits I have gone there. Reasonable prices and great service. Excellent products as well.

Brooks Brothers in the New Mall has nice suits. I also buy from what used to be Moorman's in Ames, again great service and good suits/

What I did was wait until Penny's had their 50% off sale. It's not top of the line quality, but my suit looks very nice even after I've worn it. I just take it to the dry cleaners every couple times.

I second Jos. A Bank, but wait until they have a sale. You can usually get buy one get one half off or even buy one get one free. You'll pay a little more than S&K or Men's Warehouse, but the quality is fantastic.

I'll throw in Nordstrom Rack - especially if you know your size and know a good tailor. You can find excellent suits for super cheap.

Also, I would recommend going to multiple places and try on different brands. The cut of a suit off the rack may feel funny. For example, I need a thinner cut suit if I'm only going off the rack otherwise they look big on me because of my shoulders, thus Italian suits fit me off the rack, but american (Lauren) may look a little baggy.

Mens Warehouse is where to go if you dont want to break the bank. If you have a strange jacket/pant size combo...they take care of the alterations pretty cheap. I needed a 52 regular jacket and a 36 pant and they had all the alterations finished the next day. Cant go wrong in my opinion.
