Last post about Chinese in Hy-Vee's. Most of the people working in the Chinese department at Hy-Vee are actually Vietnamese and not Chinese.

It's common with all sorts of ****. I know numerous Koreans who run Japanese restaurants.

Anyway, does Prohm love his Chinese food?

Is this the best thread derailment ever? There are now two completely different discussions taking place with no overlap and nobody from either discussion seems to be getting upset about it. Has the loss of CFH caused this little community of ours to mature?

Is this a serious question?

Maybe there will be some homesickness for her, but its not like she would want to leave for the glitz and glamour of a bigger city, which is nice. Prohm seems like a basketball junkie, so it seems like if he has a lot of success at Iowa State, he might be happy with staying a long time.
She has a million and a half reasons to love Ames now, I'm sure that softens the blow a little. Likely to be some bonuses in there too with the potential of this team. Lived in a few small towns and big cities in my life, you can do a lot worse than Ames.

From what I've heard, he shared list of his proposed staff during the interview process. However, if you saw the video of Monte talking about the staff last night, it's pretty apparent that how Prohm handles the hiring has the potential to create some rifts in the team. For example, rumor has it that Mann was already out the door, but if it comes off looking like Mann leaving was Prohm's choice, some of the guys on the team may have some hard feelings.

I'm sure there would be some hard feelings, but I don't get this notion that being unhappy about seeing a coach not getting retained is a guarantee that someone is going to leave or create problems in the locker room. The way they conducted themselves during all the Hoiberg drama earns the players a little bit more maturity credit than that. Who knows, maybe Prohm will really hit it off with Mann and just want to retain him anyway, but the idea that his staff should be heavily influenced by tiptoeing around players' feelings is a bit silly.

Cyclone fan of 20 years, Bulls fan of 30 years. Only other team I'm passionate about is ISU football.

I really didn't know if I could even continue being a sports fan in '15/'16 after the past month. After watching the press conference today, I am 100% as big a fanatic for ISU basketball.

I also was back in Chicago this week for work (just moved away from Chicago) and reading the local papers and listening to local radio it was clear that I am possibly an even bigger Bulls fan than I have been since I was 7 years old. Consider my 'jaded' Cyclones/Bulls fan stage officially over.

There isn't 'another Fred' but if the goal was to hire somebody to keep things going based on what Hoiberg built, I don't know that we could do that much better.

That ISU football thing...it's not like I've ever really been stressed about them, any type of pulse is generally just a cool bonus.

The next thing you know someone is going to tell me that Casey's pizza isn't real Italian food.

I arrived in Chicago for business the day the Bulls hired Fred...and I was in Kentucky on business the day ISU hired Prohm from Murray State. What are the odds?

As an answer to this question I present this - This is the post prior to this question being asked.

Whew....for a second there I thought you said a word that rhymes with link.

I believe that one statement says it all about our maturity level.

Why couldn't you have been in Durham so that we would have hired Coach K?

I recall the one about Horny and the Nazis. How did I miss the one about Fred urinating on dogs?

Also a thread recently about Fred turning into urinating on dogs.

Lots of ethnic Chinese in Vietnam in the northern provinces. FWIW, I enjoy the food from a Chinese-Vietnamese hybrid place in Cincinnati run by two gentlemen who are ethnic Chinese, were born and raised in Vietnam and 100% American NOW. Love their food!

Never have understood Chinese food snobs in America. Most places are actually run by Chinese folks. If not, RUN! lol. Seriously, if the food is a little different for the American palate, who cares? It's still Chinese influenced.

It's not like there is ONE PURE recipe for Chinese food. Just like food from any other country. It changes and adapts from region to region within the home country and is influenced by the new host country too. It's called cross cultural food pollination. :)
