I feel like we would need a very smart intellectual man that can speak very well to recruits.

What is Troy Davis up to?

Actually we have found 4 in our history, Johnny Majors, Earle Bruce, Dan Macarney and Paul Rhoads. So theres that.

I'd say it probably started on a wrong foot when it when a Kansas State fan started the thread without giving rhyme or reason why.

I doubt he had bad intentions creating it. I often find myself wondering who the next coach will be at a program.

Paul Rhoads is 9 games under .500 overall and 15 games under .500 in conference. I know "We are Iowa State" but lets not call him a "Winner" just yet.

I started this thread because I was curious of the opinion of Cyclone fans. I have known Paul Rhoads for over 15 years and consider him a good man and a real asset to the community. I wish Paul luck and success in all but one game a year. My point is that coaches are not normally a permanent fixture at most universities. They come and go for any number of reasons. Any athletic director with a brain has a short list to replace all of his coaches. Jamie is a very competent AD. I was asking who Clone fans thought might be on his short list for head football coach should one be needed.

He has had only five years to correct things. He is moving at a Dan McC pace.

I'd put Heupel a distant third but that is a great list right there. Montgomery or Herman get you 9-10 win seasons.

Would cost an awful lot of money to make that move. Got to pay the assistants well too if you want to wind up with a David Shaw after they jump to Michigan/Notre Dame or the NFL. Also would have to hire both immediately couldn't have them looking for other jobs after the season during the bowls they'd have to sign on the dot that Monday.

Couldn't see either winning less than 8 games and they might not be in Ames more than 2-3 seasons.

Pollard probably has to have 20-30 mil+ chilling to pull off canning Rhoads for Herman or Montgomery the first Sunday in December.

Except that in Mac's 5th year, he went 9-3. CPR went 3-9.

Except, hes done more than Mac in his first five years. And has done more for the fan base and athletic department than Mac did in his whole time here.

tornado man, your obsession with Mac is absurd. Give it up man.

CPR and Mac are practically clones in my eyes. Both know nothing about offense and live/die based on the quality of the OC.

Agreed. Its getting close to "now or never" for Paul though, unfortunately. His career now swings in the balance of whether Mangino's offense clicks.

Me. I won the national championship with Iowa State on maximum difficulty. Ed O'Bannon will be banned for life from attending ISU games.
