Anyone have issues leaving pellets in the hopper for periods of time outdoors? I have a cover but don’t know if they still pick up moisture.

I’ve always kept the grill in the garage but we poured a patio off our deck and now it stays in the back.

I have a GMG Daniel Boone. Heavy Duty GMG Cover. Previously kept inside. Now store outside, always covered after use. Under the soffit on my patio all the time. Cook there. No issues at all. Store pellets inside. Make sure they are dry. I don’t use my Pellet Grill in the Winter. Just use my Weber Q grill occasionally. The key to outside grill storage is a good cover. Keep it covered when not in use.

I like the Packers because there is more fat.
This. And if you’ve got a meat grinder, you don’t have to feel bad about trimming a packer aggressively to achieve the best results. Grind up the soft fat and meat that’ll burn if you leave it on, then render the hard fat for tallow. Use as much of the animal as possible without sacrificing taste on the brisket.

Lumber jack competition blend. I get mine at Fareway. They run specials periodically where you can for 10 bucks a bag. Actual wood not just sawdust.

All I ever use. Cooked this today. Four pound rump roast. Took about five hours at 225. Did 1/2lb burgers yesterday along with some sweet corn.

Florida corn?

Yep. Walmart. Bicolor corn but I was really surprised at how sweet it was and would pretty close taste wise to good ‘old Iowa sweet corn. Butter, along with S&P and it was surprisingly really good. They had just yellow corn awhile back and was really bad flavor wise.

I have mine covered when not using, but I always have pellets in my hopper and haven't had any problems in the 4 years I have owned it.

Yoder really does make a great pellet smoker also use a Yoder offset. Great company.
Haven’t smoked on the new pellet grill yet. Only grilled trying to get some flavor in the chamber. My offset is my favorite. Wife doesn’t like the heavy smoke from the offset. So I get to have both!!!

Pretty sure the $10 is a 20 lb bag. Friend is ordering a couple of pallets of Lumberjack pellets. I’m probably going to get seven 40 lb bags for $16 bags. Couple years ago I got them for $13 bag. Shipping cost is what has changed imagine that. If any one is interested in Ames let me know if you want in on the order.
