Be nice, guys. I will close this thread so fast, your heads will spin.

Why close the thread instead of dealing with the troublemakers? There are those who are only here to flame, and there are others calling posters out for even discussing the topic, and finally there are people who wish to discuss the topic at hand.

The thread was split off to separate it from the current missing student thread. There may be some parallels but until the flamers arrived, it was developing into a thread about the very topic that the thread title says.

I wouldn't say there are people here to flame; the thread is really broken down into these segments:

The pro SFK theory group: They want to get the information out there, man... this stuff is plausible

The anti-SFK theory group: They want to inform the pro group the theory is about as plausible (or "logical" as maroth keeps throwing out) as the bible code

The anti-anti-SFK theory group: They feel the people arguing here are being disrespectful and are joking around, which is highly inappropriate regarding the subject matter. How they're disrespectful? I don't know... this thread was supposed to be completely separate from the missing student thread, and intended to discuss this theory

Out of everyone posting, unfortunately, lobo ends up being the biggest fool: you can't argue with crazies on the internet... you should have made your initial point and let it go, regardless of what "logical" responses you invoked.

I hate to break up the love-fest, but:

Feb. 7: A harassment call was received at 1:46 a.m. from Mary Greeley Medical
Center, 1111 Duff Ave., Ames. A patient at the ER said they thought someone had
tried to spike their drink and was going to kill them.

See, this is tangible stuff we can talk about.

RustShack, are you truly one of Jon's acquaintances? If so I'd like to hear about the things you've heard about the case (that you feel like sharing) that the general public doesn't know.

You don't have the best social skills in terms of getting along. You immediately called me stupid for not knowing he placed a phonecall when all I have -read- in the newspaper is that it was a 'ping.'

I'm just stating facts I have seen. I'd not like to hear about a story someone heard three people deep. However, if you are directly involved in the investigation and are a friend of Jon, I'm all ears. Just try to not be so cruel to me since I'm obviously approaching the whole thing with an open mind and trying to do so factually rather than fancifully.

I wasn't a good friend of Jons. But I have hung out with him many times, and my best friend from HS moved(during HS) to Grinnell and him and Jon became best friends. So I'm not directly, but pretty direct. But anyways all i've heard is he had drank, but he wasn't drunk. He left at 9:30 and he was happy as usual, not depressed or anything, nothing had happened confrontation wise. He just usually leaves parties early and was heading home. He tried calling one of his friends at 10:57 but the phonecall only lasted 2 seconds. They don't know if the phone died or if he was forced to hang up. There really hasn't been a whole lot of clues, which is why you know, they can't find him. But he didn't run away... his car was still at his dorm where he lived alone, and he hasn't made any transactions with his debit card. None of us have any idea where he is, and hes not the selfish type who would even put friends and family through this type of pain.

I haven't seen much of anything in the DM Register or any other publications, other than the letter from the family, to keep the attention focused on the situation. Is there more going on in Ames that just isn't being widely publicized?

I haven't heard much lately. I've just heard theres been some smiley faces found in Ames but they don't know if thats a sick joke or not. Also my friend went to visit Jons parents the other day and he said there was a smiley face somewhere near the house.. he said he didn't think they would have really found out where he lived... thinks it was just a coincidence or sick joke.

I'd just like to say that the FBI not giving the SFK killers any creedence doesnt mean that much. If they had, more sick and twisted people would be apt to commit copycat crimes and such, so what is really the point? Maybe they are still looking into it...

Maybe not...

Just sayin it is a definite possibility.

Just do your best to educate your friends. Tell them to never take their eyes off their drink. Also, never depart any place they've been drinking alcohol alone. In fact, groups of 3 or more would be best. (Hard for guys to do, I know, but we have to try to do something.) Half of them will ridicule you and tell you to take off your tin foil hat. The other half may listen.

Smiley Face Killers - Shows - Coast to Coast AM

Coast to Coast had a show on this last night. The guest was the original news reporter from MPLS, who has since then left the news station and become a full-time investigator. This was an interesting show up until the point I fell asleep.

Would be a good one to listen to if anyone is a subscriber and can listen to old shows via podcast.

These couple of sentences gave me the willies :wideeyed:

"...authorities are considering whether to search the Mississippi River after footprints were found on the ice."

"The La Crosse Tribune notes the search evokes painful memories for a city that has struggled with alcohol-related drownings. Eight drunken college-age men drowned in area rivers between 1997 and 2006. The FBI found no evidence of foul play."

Would this country give these deaths more attention if they were all college-aged women who were disappearing like this? I think so.

I agree with you. At the same time I think that may make sense. Women tend not to travel alone and they also don't have the tendency to want to go off by themselves while men may be more apt to doing those two things. I know that I have wandered off by myself before at a time when I had a little to drink and was ****** about something. Women don't do that, they usually want to be with friends.
