Great start for the Royals. No one expected them to sweep Detroit. I fully expect them to have a decent year and finish 2nd to 3rd in the division.

Take it easy bitter Cubs fans, not all the talk around here can be about the northsiders.

We know it won't last but I'd rather be 3-0 than 1-2. Buck up though, I bet the Cubs won't go another hundred years without a championship. ;)

Even in the non-Cubs threads the haters gotta make sure everyone knows how clever they are. I am not bitter, but I sure know a lot of jealous people.

I say we have Betting Board for the AL & NL Pennant and WS. If so, I am all in on KC.

Didn't KC rip off like 20 in a row to start the season a few years back? Then still finished in last?

I happen to like KC... if I have to pick a softball... I mean AL team, it's them... I hope they do well.

Seriously? 2nd or 3rd? Wow! We're three games into the year. Realistically the Royals are a -20 in that Division by year end. I guess maybe that could be 3rd. I'm being generous. Didn't they start out pretty well a few years ago and then finish in their usual spot? This would be akin to ISU being up on UNC 2-1 in a basketball game and then talking about having them doubled up.

I think they won 9 to start '03(?). And yes, they finished last (sigh).

There are only 2 or 3 decent teams in the divsion, so I think they have a shot at 2nd or 3rd. I believe baseball has returned to KC and they are finally taking some steps in the right direction.

I am not a KC fan but they got some talent. Let's not forget that Gordon was a high pick a couple years ago. They also have Teahan and Butler who they are high on. A speed guy in Gathright and some quality role players.

Plus they have solid starting pitching w/ a closer who appears to have great stuff. Their general manager has done some great things in a short time since he came over from the A's. They won't win that division this year but they won't be a doormat either.

NO they didnt finish in last in 03 they won 83 games and finished 2nd.

Go Royals! Great start, their top 3 pitchers are gonna be tough this year, we will see what Bale can do, I think we can keep it going.

I don't think anyone expects KC to win 100 this year, but I'd rather see them start strong and build some confidence than drop to the bottom of the division. It shouldn't be discounted the factor that emotion plays in sports. It's nice to see the big mo' going the Royals' way.

That '03 team led the division from Opening Day until September. It was a weak year and they choked big time but if you can ever have a fluke year in baseball that was it.

This team is different in a lot of ways. The biggest excitement is that, after only one year, it seems pretty clear that Dayton Moore has a clue what he's doing. The pitching staff actually has some talent and they have a solid nucleus of young hitters to build around. Last year they had one of the worst opening two months in baseball history but played around .500 ball for the rest of the year so there's some optimism coming from that too.

Finishing around .500 would make me ecstatic about where the team is headed.
