I'm not unhappy about this. IMO gives him a better chance to impact the program.

In all seriousness, This just means that Maggit and Moore need to step up and take some responsibility.

Why would he be required to red-shirt? I would think they would say he is required to sit out 2010 (effectively re-shirting.)

That is my question as well. He took his class over the summer and passed. He has been ruled academically eligible so why would they force him to sit out a year? That makes no sense to me at all.

could be a blessing in disguise. I like it when JUCO players are in the program for more than just 2 years.

I also think this means he brings more of an impact to the team when he sees the field next year.

I agree. He could replace Rashawn Parker with two years to play.

I'm going to echo a couple of the posters above, why is he required to redshirt??
I am not familiar with this particular scenario.

I think that this has to do with the fact that he signed in the Winter but was deemed academically ineligible. This meant that he couldn't enroll for the spring at ISU thus causing some issues.

It would of been nice to have him play this year and at least we can have him on the team for the future.

There are sometimes conference rules that are bigger hurdles than being NCAA eligible. Nebraska had a basketball player a couple of years ago that enrolled before he was eligible. He regained his eligibility, but the ruling was that he could then enroll at any place other than Nebraska.

At least Rony is cleared to attend ISU, but it has to be tough for someone in his situation to sit out a year. I hope that he is able to focus on school, continue to practice, and stick around to play next year.

If that is the case then I can totally understand why he wouldn't be eligible this season. I just hope he takes care of his business in the classroom, in the weight room, and on the practice field. He will be a great asset for our starting tackles to practice against this season.

Well, to be honest, I'm glad he red shirted. He can compete more for a starting job next year after Parker leaves and we get to see what Maggit and Neal can do. I downed Neal earlier but I really want him to do well, I take the bad comments back.

Scout team player of the year!

hopefully he can stay eligible, he'll be a beast after a year on the team with Yancy!

How much bigger did Neal get in the offseason?

WTF? Where did the red-shirt come from?

Whatever. Moore, Maggit and Nelson will compete for Parker's spot next spring.
