I think the "he plans on redshirting" is more speaking to the fact he's not coming in to help this year's team and knows it, he's coming in early to make himself better and ready to contribute next season.

I guess I don’t get it. Does ISU think he’ll be here 5 years? Wouldn’t that be a pretty big disappointment considering his recruitment? And if he’s not showing the development needed to go pro after a couple years, wouldn’t he transfer anyways? I’m just failing to see how keeping his ‘27-‘28 eligibility benefits more than getting him playing time this year to help his development.

Have you actually looked at the kid he's a stick figure he's Manute Bol thin. It's not like the staff and him can't change their mind if need be. Why would he need to transfer if not going pro? Many players are very good collegiate players that don't pan out in the NBA. It's not like we are KU as much as some people here would like to believe.

NIL changes "strategy" something serious. Not saying or implying anything at all. But it certainly could be worth it business wise. 2 years or 3 years is a LONG time. Maybe by redshirting he keeps his options open. Will redshirting at Iowa State be a better development then playing his senior year at high school? Yes. Could that redshirt year make him a better Freshman the following year? Yes. Could this all transition all result in a larger NIL deal that could payout more than the NBA? Yes. Think Caitlin Clark / Tyrese Hunter. They are making more in college than they could in the pros.

Does it really matter? He’s still coming to Iowa state not like he decommitted

JC is talking about the last class’ rank, not 2024. I'd think Rock's reclassification would boost it firmly into the top 10 if it's not already.

The class was ranked 10th pre-Rock, but I think the recruiting websites released their "final" rankings already, so not sure if it will update everywhere.

If he were not to red shirt, lets just be hypothetical for a minute, how many if any games could he appear in before the redshirt is burned?
