You’ve literally been wrong about everything you’ve said to the point people immediately are correcting you haha.

Do you mean like when you tried to say I said he won a world medal?

Keep telling yourself it makes sense for a guy to drop 40+ lbs and spend 4 years wrestling a weight he hasn’t been at since his sophomore year of high school. And that he will be effective doing it.

Here you go

He was one match from winning an age level world medal at 275 lbs just 14 months ago, while weighing 250+.

That’s why.

Wrong. He got 10th.
And yeah…the guy who’s getting beat by the likes of UNI’s backup 197 pounder and a .500 guy from Bellarmine was consistently whipping Christian Carroll.

Wrong. Herrera never lost to UNI’s backup 197 lber.

It feels like the discussion around Carroll has gotten so overblown, and I don’t understand the hostility to the idea that he could improve by not having to cut a massive amount of weight. But the point is likely moot since it would appear bastida is redshirting.

He has big time wrestling accomplishments wrestling much higher weights.

He’s struggled at 197 and just got beat by a true freshman backup 184 pounder from NDSU.

But we’re the idiots.

This Carroll discussion is going absolutely nowhere but in circles. I have no insight into what is going on but it is obvious he has talent, has had previous success, and is currently struggling. Freshman who have had previous success have struggled before . Whether it is the weight cut , outside the room issues, issues between the ears, adjusting to a new staff and expectations or a combination is all conjecture.

There isn’t one. It’s 197 or bust.
If 197 is just too much of a cut for Carroll, then why not let him compete for the HWT spot? Neither him nor Herrera can redshirt at this point. Let them wrestle off for the spot.

It’s pretty hard to have a true wrestle off in my opinion because ideally you would let Carroll put back on like 50 pounds which would then take forever to be allowed back to 197 if he lost. So seems like something that has to be settled in the offseason.

I have no idea what the right answer is for CC. What I think to be true is that OSU had CC pegged for what seemed like a career 197 when they added Cody Merrill to their room. So whatever the result now, at least two staffs initially thought this was his best route.

I’m guessing CC had the same idea. KD doesn’t seem to lean into kids to have them cut down. I don’t totally agree with how KD manages these weight class issues. I feel like we have had too many kids changing weights mid season. But KD has been fairly consistent with that. If CC was the best option for Hwy this year since Yonger is out, I’m not sure why anyone would stop him from moving up.

Did we all not see what happened to Swiz during his true freshman campaign? He struggled mightily and we all know he was uber talented. The same is happening to CC, he essentially is a true freshman because he was injured the majority of last year. Let's give him some grace here guys, he had one bad match, he just needs to re-group a bit.

Agree with crooksie_26. Carroll is a talented kid and with coaches help they will get it figured out in the next couple of months. I really think he will AA at 197 as long as he gets his weight and conditioning under control.

Hopefully, that happens and is the case 2nd semester.

With a lot of these guys, it’s figure out whatever they need to to get ready for next year.

The last year at 97 didn't he screw up his ribs too? Or am I thinking of someone else
No. You're right. He could barely walk out onto the mat at the end of the year. If I remember right, was getting getting treatment basically right up until he walked out of the tunnel.

This whole CC conversation is dumb. The kid is young, wrestling a true D1 schedule for the first time, is having to learn how to manage not only wrestling, but school, life, etc. I'm not sure why we expect these kids to come in and be AA's right away in November.

If there's anything we've learned from the Dresser era, it's that this team will be ready to roll in March.
