Values were way different 80 years ago. Racism was an established norm back then. That was then, this is now. Racism is no longer an accepted value. Sports franchises need to pay attention and modernize.
The government doesn't need to be involved with that, though, IMO. If enough people are upset about it and stop pumping money into the Washington franchise by the truckload, it'll change. That's the free market dictating to a vendor. If they're okay losing business from some people over their name, that's their right, IMO. They aren't denying anyone service based on race, so (IMO) people need to either get over it, or get others to stop funneling in the money. Because the government has no place interfering with this, based on the First Amendment. Offensive speech is protected just as much as PC speech is, and if you're offended, that's a you problem.
