Just a couple of quick basketball recruiting notes as we head into the weekend.

--- Xavier Foster, the top-ranked Iowa prospect in the class of 2020, will be unofficially visiting Iowa State for its 1 p.m. tip vs. Oklahoma. Foster, a 6-foot-9 prospect out of Oskalooska, is a top-100 recruit in that class with high-major offers from the likes of Iowa, Creighton, Illinois, and Texas A&M. He recently took a visit to Kansas.

Some 2019 news...
Iowa State assistant coach Daniyal Robinson recruited the city of St. Louis on Friday.

He watched guard Mario McKinney, a 6-foot-2 prospect who boasts offers from Auburn, DePaul, Illinois, Iowa and Kansas State.

Another St. Louis kid to get a look is E.J. Liddell, a 6-foot-7 prospect with offers from Iowa State, Iowa, Illinois, DePaul, Illinois State, Ohio State, Kansas State, Marquette, Missouri, Florida and Northwestern.

Finally, Iowa State will watch small forward T.J. Hargrove on Friday night.

I understand the Xavier Foster thing but why is Iowa recruiting out-of-state?

Although I still don’t really like our chances with Foster it seems like he’s visited a good amount of times. Sure he’s close but that tells me maybe it’s not a shoe in that he goes to Iowa or a blue blood.

Mario is the cousin of former Missouri guard Jimmy McKinney. Jimmy was a big-time recruit for MU.

Why are we not recruiting this DJ Carton that all Iowa fans seem so high on? I think he is ranked pretty good also

Because he is going to Wisconsin?
If he was going to go to Wisconsin he would have already committed. If a blue blood like Kansas gets involved then he'll go there, if not then it'll be between schools like Iowa, Missouri, Marquette, Indiana, etc.

Chris is there anything to the reported interest in Issa Samake or is that overblown?

According to this, his offer is from 9/14/16. You have to wonder if it is still a current offer or not.

Yeah, I can see both sides of it. He looks like he *could* have really good potential because he's long and athletic. With that said, there are a lot of reported offers that never materialize.

His stats don't indicate he's proven to be a worthy offer this early, so I wouldn't be shocked if it was a highly conditional offer.
