Tickets would have to be really cheap for me to give that athletic department any of my money.

It's almost sad their fans don't care about their team.... I love it.
Buy on stubhub, you’re paying a reseller for their ticket, not buying from UI

I think Fran actually got super lucky the womens team started selling out the arena. However, that won't last to much longer with Clark gone. The focus was taken off him for that time. They keep acting like this Beth lady is something great but we shall see. She did the Brian Ferentz firing but will she try and kickstart the mens basketball team?

One way or another they’re both gonna age out soon if nothing else.

Any ad might be able to improve on Fran via pin the tail on the donkey but replacing KF is a monster responsibility for a team that’s had just two coaches in a half century.

He’s trolling and you guys are eating right into it

Simply amazes me how mediocre media personalities psychologically manipulate people. THEY ARE GETTING PAID WE ARE NOT. Then you get the “influencers” like Ted Flint that use that knowledge to then become part of that gang and start profiting.

Not sure what you’re saying here. Podcasters can’t troll people because they get paid?

no one, not even Auburn could stop Keshon....how in the world will Iowa? Feels like it would have to take his worst game of his career for us to lose this game. I know we've struggled in IC, but a loss here would be bad...yeah rivalry games always heighten the level of intensity but we are so much better than them at...well, everything.

I like where your head is at and we are a 1-2 seed this year, while Iowa is at best a 7 seed IMO. But here is why I have little faith in this game.
  • We are 7-31 on the road against Iowa and here are the results of the past four trips.
    • 2022-2023 lost by 21 (Iowa was 8 seed) - ISU 3-22 from 3PT
    • 2020-2021 lost by 28 (Iowa was a 2 seed) - ISU 13-32 from 3PT
    • 2018-2019 lost by 16 (Iowa was a 10 seed) - ISU 6-23 from 3PT
    • 2016-2017 lost by 14 (didn't make tournament) - ISU 8-30 from 3PT
If I recall, some of these 3 pointers in these blow outs were when the game didn't matter which made our percentage even better than it should have been.
So what happens in Iowa City is Iowa State has shot extremely poor to at best, average.
Iowa has shot very well including 50% from 3.

Iowa does a great job at swinging the ball and making the extra pass, and they will get wide open shots.
This game is as simple as Iowa has to shoot 50% from 3, stay under 15 Turnovers and get 20 points from the line. (getting us in foul trouble).

And this is our first road game against a rival, which may be why we traditionally struggle in this game. its typically our first road games of the year.

My hope is that we are just so much better that we play average we still win. But I fully expect Dix, Sandforts to go off.

I hope we can just chalk up most of that to the Prohm era.

I'd love nothing more than wide swaths of ISU fans in Carver on Thursday night. Can our fanbase become rabid for more than just KC and bowl games? TBD.

You couldn’t pay me to go there. Plenty of us are rabid but won’t be there.

Hopefully our team is built more about getting to the rim than 3s but we shall see.

It would be mildly fun to go to CHA among what few fans EIU has and just mollywop them.

However some in this thread reminded me how insane getting out of that place is, all the way out onto the interstate system. You think getting out of Hilton parking lots is bad? All that on a Thursday night, no less.

The experience of the game would be pretty fun, hopefully, but every single other part would likely completely suck.

BUT I'm glad a bunch of Cyclones fans will be braving the elements to go to the game. If you're from that area or have never been, this is definitely the game to take in.

I will be very disappointed if they start hitting threes and we do not adjust to not leave their shooters open. We have seen this staff stay stubbornly committed to doubling even when we're getting torched from the perimeter when the pass gets out and then gets kicked to a wide-open dude behind the line. It seems like this is kind of an obvious thing we need to limit vs. iowa city. Getting beat by the obvious would be a real bummer.

good post. agreed.

one more thing I thought off that I have seen teams struggle (for some reason) on.
Iowa throws a press on and kind of baits teams to lob passes. not sure why teams struggle with it, but they do.

Back to the thread. I hope we can get 25% there at least. that would be good.

Their press can generate turnovers, yes, but watching them it seems the main goal is to speed the other team up. And teams fall into the trap which plays into the pace Iowa wants to play at.

We can break their press, but need to still be patient and control the game.

Not exactly sure but I think after he deflected/stole a pass near JS's bench he turned and said something in that direction.

Looked like TJ was talking a while to one of their assistants in the handshake line and I wondered if he was apologizing for the incident or clearing things up.
I thought the announcers said when they came back from the media break that the official told them that Jeff had received a couple of warnings before being T'd up.
