Well, at least the hb fan club is driving hits to the site and generating revenue for somebody.

Maybe we should help them by finding the best UNC fansite for them to frequent?

I would think his friends and fans would be better suited telling his chosen university how awesome he is instead of telling his ***** pick that he really didn't wrong them in any way.

Wow. Is that really how it works? Thanks, Captain Obvious.

The other coaches would not talk to Andy Katz and say they blame ESPN for picking another school. How often do you hear a college basketball coach complain openly to the press about someone picking another school? It was clearly the whole production they found to be unbecoming. Much like everyone on this board.
So then perhaps ESPN is the one who orchestrated the whole shindig? BURN ESPN!!

Alum. I chose ISU so it's ok to love me.

Maybe it's different because you grew up in Ames and you don't look at it the way a lot of us do. I can see your loyalty to a fellow hometown kid that a lot of us don't.

The fact of the matter is that you and the other HB apologists' theory that inviting "the public" doesn't have anything to do with the university is flawed, in my opinion. Without ISU, Ames isn't on the map. You're f**king Nevada if you get the county seat instead of the college. To try to separate the Ames "public" from the university is a little short sighted.

The public press conference is only half of it. Making Coach McD see you skype Roy Williams instead of having the balls to call him like a man is another part of the equation. That, my friend, is a lack of respect.

You seem to think 25 people on a message board represents how all of ISU and it's fan base feel. He was in a position where he couldn't make everyone happy. Didn't say anything about a 2nd rate university, but you are crazy if you think we are a first rate bball program so any publicity associated to the #1 recruit in the country is good as far as future recruiting goes. I'm sorry, maybe I didn't realize we've been going to the sweet 16 the past couple years...

I will only speak for myself, but you are completely wrong.

HB not coming to Iowa State has huge implications for recruiting. We are going after Randle, a top 40 player in his class. You don't think that the fact that Greg couldn't close the deal on this kid, with all of the advantages that he had, won't be brought up to not only Randle, but every kid that we are recruiting.

Add in the Wesley Johnson debacle, and the three year record, and that is a lot of bullets that we have to overcome to sign the truly elite players needed to compete at in the Big 12.

Now it looks like we were kept on the list as nothing more than a courtesy. Especially when you listened to the odes of greatness that he bestowed upon Roy Williams in the interview following the presser.

That is very, very likely. But it doesn't change the fact that this was an Ames High player holding a press conference in Ames, not an ISU player. Fans that came out should have known that, but most seemed to come thinking they were coming to watch a future ISU alum choose their school. Most people who go to Ames High games don't go because they're looking to watch future ISU Cyclones, but to watch current Ames High Little Cyclones. That is why you invite the public, the public has been supporting him the past few years, turning out huge numbers to their games. The fact that ISU fans seemed to think they had some claim over him before he had even made a decision is their own fault, not his.

It was beyond classless. ISU is not alone in this. You don't take Universities and make a cute game out of it on national TV with one of the home teams' fans in attendance and then web link in the winning coach to rub it in the other's faces. I bet Roy felt totally stupid when hearing of the idea but had to go along with it as he'll do anything and didn't want to risk losing.

Barnes totally just ****** off all these other universities, including the one who helped him, employs his mother, and remains to be his local and families' home town... how fitting.

While I think it sucks for Barnes after he spent a lot of time gaining respect to just lose it... he did it to himself. He has got to feel terrible... and good reason.

Didn't see the interview after the press conference. I just think it would have looked worse if ISU was taken off longer ago. There is a question as to if it was courtesy or not and it probably was, but if we were off the list right away there would have been no doubt in that future recruits mind that HB didn't think ISU was good enough for him.

What percentage of the Ames High "public" doesn't have some connection to the University. ISU is the only reason Ames in on a map. You're a piece of sh*t town otherwise.

Don't be dissin Ames.

Have some fond memories living there, but only because it was college years. Face it...there's not much going on otherwise.

I'll take it easy on Ames if you're reasonable enough to admit that you can't completely separate the "Ames public" from the university community. Be honest...they're not mutually exclusive.

Why does them having a connection matter? This was not an ISU event, it was an Ames High event.
