Re: Rashad Vaughn

I was reading the rivial recap of Rashad's last game and I saw a nugget about RV not planning a visit to Lawerence at this time. Down to a 4 team race? (not sure if anyone had already posted).

On the recruiting front, Vaughn is officially down to Kansas, Kentucky, Iowa State, North Carolina and UNLV. However, the Jayhawks look to be long shots. Vaughn said that they continue to show interest, but added that he didn't have any plans to visit officially at this time. He's been to Ames and Vegas and will visit Chapel Hill when the Tar Heels host Pittsburgh. John Calipari was there to see Vaughn on Friday and the five-star said that he is looking to set up a visit to Lexington.

I think others have said that he has been to KU at least once, but it was an unofficial visit. However, not setting up an official visit may mean something, especially since he's got one available.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I hope Vaughn ends up at Iowa State. He would be a great fit in Hoiberg's system. Plus I'd rather the Big 12 keep him away from UK and Carolina. If he is sticking by his plans to announce in Feb-Mar then he isn't going to Kansas. If we can't have him I hope ISu gets him. I love to see Kansas go against great players. Seeing Durant, Beasley and Griffin play in AFH was awesome.

Kansas should hope that some other basketball programs can turn it up soon, imo. It only help perception if we have more teams making deep runs in the tourney.

I'm sure you meant to include Jamal Tinsley and Marcus Fizer. I know I enjoyed watching them play (and win) at AFH!

I think the decision not to visit Kansas has more to do with the fact that they don't have a spot for him if Selden stays and it is becoming more and more likely that he will stay. Vaughn's already been there on unofficial visits. I think Kentucky will be in the same boat as well. Unless something dramatic changes, both Harrison twins will be around for another year and Young might end up coming back as well. None of the three are in the most recent NBA Draft 1st round projections. That would push Vaughn down the depth chart.

I was living on the east coast when those guys were coming to town so I never got to see them play at AFH. Fizer was a load. What he gave ISU is what I expect from Cliff Alexander at Kansas next year, only Alexander is a little taller.

It makes no difference to Kansas basketball. They do not suffer from a perception problem. No one is undervaluing them becauseof their conference foes. The only thing it would really affect is discussions between KU fans and fans of schools in other conferences. Folks like to crow about the "weak" Big 12, pointing out that if KU wins it every year then they must be the only good team. It's nothing to take seriously. We know better.

I know he planned on taking an unofficial to KU his junior year, but don't believe he made it down to Lawerence.
Not getting an official when he has the one free last trip he can take, if for nothing else than for fun, isn't good for the Jayhawk prospects even if he did have an unofficial. Actually, I am suprised it is taking him this long to get the Kentucky visit scheduled. I realize he is in school and plays a national BB schedule but there are only so many home games that UK plays on weekends left.

Hated watching them beat KU, but loved watching them play, especially Tinsley.

You keep saying this and are the only one saying it. Everyone has followed RV very closely here and I am sure someone would have heard about him visiting KU. I think it's BS

I'm not doubting that he has, but I would like to know how many "visits" he has made to KU and when.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Vaughn would visit KU if he was seriously considering them. He visited us even though he took a lot of unofficials here. He even said he wasn't going to visit here officially since he has been to Ames so many times, but then decided to visit anyway. I would think he would do the same thing for KU if he was serious about them, especially considering that a trip to the Phog is a pretty legit trip basketball history wise.

I've heard from a few people that Vaughn has been to KU on at least two occasions. Not positive but I believe one was midnight at the phog or whatever

Re: Rashad Vaughn

It's way too early to say certain players will probably stick around for another year. Just because the Harrison twins haven't played up to their potential yet doesn't mean that they won't be making huge strides in February and March when it really counts. I realize these guys have had scouts keeping a close eye on them all along, but the best players always peak when it counts and no better time to showcase their talents and show off than in prime time in the big dance.

Look at McGary. He blew up last year in the tourney. Although he stayed, but he could've easily gone and been picked in the lottery.
