MSU goes from not ranked to 18th?!

Just figured it out- they're playing Ohio State this weekend. Great excuse to bounce Ohio State up in the polls within range of the playoff if they win. This "poll" is nothing more than an excuse to arrange the pieces to get the desired results.

I thought we would move up to around 18th. Our win over KU was comparable to NC State's win over Florida State. The Committee blew it this week.

The two rankings that are baffling are Michigan State and Kentucky. If Kentucky’s game we’re close I could see them only dropping 2 spots, but that was a beat down. Michigan Sate jumped to #18 for beating Maryland?! What is up with that? Kansas stomped Maryland (showing how good they are anyways) and we beat Kansas by a larger margin, yet not only do they get ranked but jump us and 6 other teams...for beating Maryland! LSU’s small drop is questionable, but not baffling. SEC and Big10 being coddled by the committee again.

Kansas beat Rutgers this year, not Maryland. Maryland beat Texas earlier this year.

I agree with you, but what about Florida and State Penn?

Who is their best win?

Overall SOS is more important than "best win", but since you asked ISU is their best win. A win over a top 25 CFP team is pretty solid. They also beat NIU whose only losses have come to P5 teams.

I'm certainly no Iowa fan, but they are like 3 plays away from being 9-0. Their schedule has been garbage, but I can understand their ranking.

But they have lost to every decent team they have played, and there have only been 3. Not counting ISU as decent, because at the beginning of the year the Clones were really not very good at all with a messed up OL, starting QB out and DM at half strength.

It seems nearly impossible to get a Hawk fan to swallow their pride and admit that ISU is the Hawks best win this season, so kudos to you for that. I also appreciate your acknowledgement that SOS is more important than "best win". If you take a look at this link, Iowa State had the #1 SOS before playing KU last week, but now sit at #7. I know the Hawks are ranked 1 spot higher in the CFP poll, but they've lost 2 in a row and have a real shot to take that skid to 3 against a Northwestern team that historically gives Iowa fits and is on a 6 game road winning streak. Meanwhile you've got an ISU team on a 4 game conference win streak and favored to take that streak on to 5 games.
