So much empathy and kindness on Facebook......Some people are so much better than those other people.
I freaking hate Emmanuel Goldstein.

Massive bow echo incoming.

so I was in an interior room when it came through and came downstairs to just rain. Didn't really know if it had been windy. Drive home was multiple trees down, semi blown over (and ambulance) and some flashing ripped off our house and patio furniture thrown around.

Things I've learned, my car doesn't have power steering in the old conventional way, it has electrical assisted steering. it can turn it self off randomly. It resets after you turn the car off and restart it. Guess it's like rebooting a computer. So far it's only happened once started looking for leaks or the power steering fill couldn't find it called my mechanic and he explained that it's electric now.
I learned that the hard way. Vehicle had less than 200 miles on it and it was 5-10 below zero. Called roadside assistance. It failed again at the dealer so they replaced the whole module.

The vixen has been getting ready for her 40th class reunion (which is tomorrow) for quite some time now. She sent out invitations, planned the events and menu with a couple of her classmates, sent for special Koozies in class colors, bought tablecloths, plates, plastic eating utensils, etc, etc, etc. She is also making 4 gallons of her famous baked beans.

So today she is using her lunch hour to grab last-minute things, and then going over to Manson right after work to get it all set up.

I asked her if she thought her classmates would appreciate everything she's done to make this fun for them and she said, "Oh, I don't know."

Tomorrow I'm going to tell them all that they should be appreciative. She's my hero.

ok, question for smarter home DIY people. That piece of flashing that got ripped off got kinda mangled by the wind so I don't think we want to reattach that piece. How do we go about finding a new piece? It's a standard seeming cool white color - is that something like a Home Depot has? The other thing is seeing if we'll even fix it ourselves. It's on the high side of the house so IDK about DH going up there. And lol at the idea of me doing that.

Not exactly sure.

Home improvement stores have them. Just measure what you need and tell them (If you are doing it yourself). If you plant to have a repair guy, he will do it for you. Not difficult to do. Honestly, it sounds like they didn't black jack it down if it came off. I would check the shingles that it was over and see if they are damaged also.

Guessing you may not know this answer (my wife would be clueless) but do you happen to know the pitch of your roof? Anything of 6/12 and under is very easy to work on. Had to deal with a 14/12 pitch once and I got a 100' rope and tied it to the swing set on the other side of the house and tied it to myself to slow myself if I fell. Fixed things on the roof that way, just gotta be inventive.

This is kinda soap boxy or maybe self-righteous? Not sure. Anyway, it's tough for me to get to work spot on 8am anymore these days. Between a baby still not sleeping through the night to help get ready/entertain/plus my own attempt to get ready and eat/etc. Most days I'm about 5 minutes late but not a big deal cause I never have meetings that early. Except for today. And I bust my butt to get out on time so I can get to this meeting on time. Get here and I see the vehicle for one organizer not here yet. Cool cool. Get up to the room, nothing. Go get coffee come back, nothing. Check email, nothing. Come back to my office with another attendee and we run into one of the organizers - 15 minutes late - being all oh I just got here. Yeah we can tell. Finally 35 minutes past time we get a note that the other organizer will be here shortly. And now they just stopped in to reschedule. That just grinds my gears. Like send a damn email or text or something to say you are running late. The part I'm really peeved about is I just knew they wouldn't be here on time but I got here anyway. And I'm always very apologetic if I get to a meeting more than 2 minutes past time. And try to send a note ahead if I know I'm running behind, it just seems like the courteous thing to do.

Oh I may be saying the wrong thing, maybe it's fascia? Shingles wouldn't be impacted. Also this exact piece came off two years ago on a random semi-windy day and we had the builder fix it. I feel like 4 years post-build we should handle it + maybe they didn't do a great job if it came off again. DH thinks it must just get caught by the wind.

Samuel L. Jackson would be reading their rescheduling for me.
