Daddy was an AeroE from TA&M. He was with Boeing in the 60s and was part of the cadre that were sent to the Cape, on loan to NASA. We lived there from 66-68. His responsibilities were the Crawler & the Umbilical Tower. I have always wanted to go into space, and I really hope we make it to Mars before my time is over, but it's not looking good at this point. :(
Wow. The Cape at that time must have been amazing with all that was going on at that time. Did you feel any of the"buz" while living there? I think going into space would freak me out. Too much anxiety. Getting to mankind to Mars would be quite the accomplishment. Speaking of Mars, For all Mankind was a good series if you haven't yet seen it.

I really hate the way sports has been taken over by gambling. Every show is all about the odds and what's a good bet. ESPN has their own gambling app. I imagine in a year or two we're going to see a real problem with gambling debt. Calling 1-800-BETS OFF isn't going to stop a compulsive gambler when they have access to it at their fingertips 24x7

It's different this time , people will only gamble with their entertainment dollars and have fun with it. (Yeah I don't believe 1 word of what I typed and agree with you 100%)

And every single person always wins. Just like when they go to the casino, they always win. I'm not sure how all these casinos stay in business with all the money they are giving away.

Dropped truck off for an oil change. They have a Corvette for $175k. Not sure what's so different that makes it 90k more than the other Vette on the floor

I've posted links to the "Now I Know" site when a topic really strikes my fancy. As a writer/editor/communicator, I like the content and how it's presented, although not everything is interesting to me.
Today's main topic, however, seemed to be quite appropriate here given our penchant for deriding those whose posts have typos.
I think we could use a little more Grace with each other.

Sorry, I missed this post earlier. Is this really how it is perceived? I will give people in this thread a little ribbing over a typo and try to make a joke. At the same time I take it in that spirit when someone has fun with my mistakes.

Do people on here really take that as deriding posters?

I cringe each time I see one of my own typos or grammar errors after I've posted something here on CF. It's a mad rush to hit "edit" before someone smugly drops a one word reply to correct my terrible and inexcusable (to them) transgression.

There are a number of CF posters that seem hardwired to be condescending and correcting other people seems to gives them great pleasure.
Message received. I will no longer crack jokes about typos.

Open question for everyone: Is it really taken that way when the response is clearly a joke?

Don't think we are talking about joking around here in RTT. At least I was are talking grammar police that can't resist correcting people in a casual "chat" forum. More like, "Your opinion is trash because you used than when the correct usage was then. I am now pointing out to everyone what an caveman you are."

Well, this oil change is turning into about $1k. On the way down a tire sensor went out. The other three are all signaling low voltage so they will go out eventually as well so I figured just replace them all. Still better than a monthly car payment

When I signed up for ESPN+ this season I did the bundle for Disney+ and Hulu. I figured I'd binge some of the stuff I've never seen. Opted for the cheaper w/commercials package. Was weird watching a Star Wars spinoff with all sorts of commercials for some gambling app. Guess you have to be a young gambling hipster to get it because I could only figure out that it had something to do with gambling.

Phhf, tire sensor. Most worthless (and expensive) invention ever. I ignore the crap out of mine. I can see my tires every day. If one gets low, I put air in it.

Thanks for the clarification. I am with you on this one.

I just wanted to make sure my flippant cracks on the typos we all make wasn't pissing someone off. It is intended to solicit laughs not anger and I can certainly refrain if it is pissing people off.

I know I would be angered if I was even decent at English ( ;) )but when all testing in school said I was 99% of all subjects but English was like 69%. I know me dumb when it comes to English.

Sorry, was trying to get more than usual done today (at work) because ISU has holidays the rest of this week. Boxster is correct, my comment was about the CF community at large. Here in RTT, I think we’re mostly comfortable enough with posting styles to know when someone is smiling rather than smirking in a reply.
