RAGBRAI Route Announced

Oh, and if you are riding through Ottumwa for RAGBRAI...watch out for Hogs! The last time we went to Ottumwa we were on a 4 lane in town and someone hit a hog in the middle of the road...and it wasn't a little pip-squeek hog...it was a big ol' one and it was drooling out the mouth. Pretty funny

The day that the bikes roll into Indianola is also the evening there will be a lot of livestock trailers on the road. The Warren County Fair starts the next morning.

actually ottumwa was okay in 2000...there was naked beer slides on trays inside the bar I was in with people pouring beer on the floor to make it slick. Often on RAGBRAI the best towns aren't the ames, iowa city type but a town like ottumwa with a bunch of townie bars...at least for the riders. For those of you that don't ride and just show up to party you likely prefer the ames, iowa city type towns but RAGBRAI doesn't change those places much...it is pretty much the same scene but RAGBRAI can transform a smaller medium sized town into legendary for a night.

Eagle Grove comes to mind. Talk about a town ready for RAGBRAI

Ottumwa's not much different than anywhere else but stay out of the strip club downtown, it ain't pretty.

The Ottumwa Ballet? I threw a few brews down there in the past. One time I went to use the restroom there and it was occupied with some stripper-bar goer action that had gone to the next level from her lap dance to him, they didn't even lock the door!!! and he was a big dude, and she was well......... not nice looking.

Perhaps a video series of these things could be created along the lines of "Girls gone Wild": "Lap Dances gone Bad". Though the one I saw would make just about anyone queasy.
