interesting comments from Hawkeye fans on BHGP. They are tearing up KF big time. Best quote: " Kirk did everything in his power to not have to testify, only to feign frustration that he didn't get to testify. It's a middle finger.' Kinda like the south right after the civil war. They tore into their generals and politicians more than they criticized the north.

Let's see how good the journalism really is in Iowa.. You can't accept that as the University answer for public dollars.

I'm guessing their hands are so far down KKKirk's pants that they are afraid to let go

No way there will be any media of any import in this state going after this. The Fourth Estate has no motivation to challenge the throne here.

But the Fifth Estate? Maybe. Best case would be some sports-hating junior woodchuck at the Daily Iowan going rogue and turning it into their personal crusade to get noticed.

The lawyer's response to Ferentz's statement:
“It is disappointing that in the wake of this settlement, Kirk Ferentz continues to claim that he and his coaches did nothing wrong,” said Solomon-Simmons, a former football player at Oklahoma. “This is refuted by the (July 2020) Husch Blackwell Law Firm Report that his own athletics department commissioned and paid for."
“Kirk Ferentz's unwillingness to accept responsibility for his actions and those actions of his subordinates shows that as long as Kirk Ferentz is in charge at Iowa, Black players will be at risk for harassment, bullying, race-based threats and retaliation that will deprive them of a meaningful opportunity to pursue a high-quality education while competing at the highest level of collegiate athletics."
A racially hostile football program is Kirk Ferentz’s legacy. That is why we strongly hope that University of Iowa President Dr. Barbara J. Wilson listens to Iowa State Treasurer Roby Smith who encouraged Iowa to 're-examine relationships with (athletics director) Gary Barta, Brian Ferentz, and others named.'
“We also hope that this litigation and settlement will cause all other university athletic programs to reevaluate their policies, environment and culture to ensure that they are just, inclusive, and equitable for Black student-athletes.”

Strong, well stated.

KF acts like a person who doesn’t appreciate that he gets paid $6 million a year, has the state get junior a job, gets the Iowa taxpayers to pay $2 million of his screwup and gets to coach in a conference that got Fox to pay $100 million a year to his athletic department. You think he would just say thanks once in a while instead of giving his employer (the university and us) the middle finger.

Heh, you say that as if KF doesn't believe with every fiber of his being that he's God's gift to Iowa.

I'm personally amazed KF hasn't been fired. KF had to have known what Boyle said to players and how he treated some players. He allowed it to occur. He didn't even try to interject and put a stop to the harassments at any time.

It just goes to show you what the university's priorities are about: winning is more important than anything else. And that's why they have been sued many times and will continue to be sued

You're allowed to steal one thing worth 5 dollars on your next visit to an Iowa sporting event.
They will be coming to Ames this fall. So First 2 qtrs valuables in their locker room will be left open to divide up amongst us fans.

This story is already old news and has been completely forgotten about.

That’s what KF and Barta both know and exploit. You will look bad for a day or two…. and then all will be forgotten.

They’ve both used that to their advantage many, many times.

It does amaze me how little press this has gotten nationally.

I have family in central PA and their fans behaved the same with Joe Pa but the national attention finally drove action.

If this was the first incident, that’s one thing - but we know it is not the first.

I am really surprised this is not getting more run nationally particularly with the prevalent PC culture.

There was no way the local, regional or national media would cover this like some of you wished for or expected.

The media claiming that racial bias exists at a public university that has resulted in abuse of a race of people and employment laws for family members? That would be like a family member turning in a family member. It didn't and will not happen.

UofI says they'll be reimbursing the state.

The U of I could have done the right thing from the outset, announcing up front that they would pay the state's portion of the settlement. They surely would have avoided a good portion of this brutal press coverage and public outcry.

Instead they get the worst of both worlds - they pay the bill and take a much worse PR hit than necessary. Just brilliant public relations-ing. Strategery!
