Anyone have any insight on places that will be showing the fight in the Des Moines/Ames area? I know movie theaters sometimes show boxing fights, anyone know of any?

TIA

I am heading to Buffalo Wild Wings in Ames to watch. I should probably call to make sure before I commit.

I'm not even going to attempt going there. It's going to be so packed. They'll probably shut the doors at 7 due to capacity and the fight won't start till 10 at least.

Bump. Anyone know any places in Ames that might carry it? Welch Ave Station maybe?

Probably B-Dubs but you will have to get there at 5 and guard your table with your life. Expect to deal with people hovering around and glaring at you constantly while they wait to be seated. Good times.

Twin Peaks cover is $25. just fyi. We are deciding rather to go there or order it at home.

I get that they make a killing off these PPVs, but seems like you'd get such a broader and better potential longterm audience showing the fight on mainstream TV.

Talked to BWW here in Cedar Rapids and they said no BWW in Iowa are showing fight and only a select few nationwide are. He said there is a $5,000 cost per restaurant to show the fight and very few can pencil that out.

Just called Wallaby's. They aren't showing it. B-dubs in Ames isn't showing it. I doubt Welch Ave will show it because they didn't even have NFL Sunday Ticket this year. **** **** ****

The Other Place isn't showing it. Welch Ave isn't open yet so can't call them. Olde Main isn't showing it (it was a long shot I know). I'm out of ideas in Ames.

EDIT: Called Brick City Grill and she said call back when the manager is around (5pm) because she has no idea but it is doubtful.

With $5,100 cost and say a $20 cover charge, which seems to be the standard most places are charging, you would need a turnout of 255 people just to break even. I'm not sure there are many places that even hold that many. There is definitely no way you'd do it without a cover.

I think you're dinged per capacity of your bar/restaurant though.

I agree you need some sort of cover to help make up the cost. Though I suppose you could argue your food/beverage sales would go up from more people being there.
