Is it just me or do you think it is strange that Bo Pelini is back at LSU practicing with the team and preparing them for the BCS champ. game. He will be at the game coaching LSU.

If I were a Husker fan, this would irritate me. Granted it is a recruiting dead period and he has most of his staff in place for the Neb. gig, but is just seems weird that he would go back after being gone and announced as the new coach at Neb. and more or less step back into his old job for the next 2.5 weeks.

My cousin works with the LSU football team and told me yesterday Pelini was at the LSU practice and will be through the game. He didn't think it was strange......maybe I'm the only one....I don't know.

I'm surprised Husker nation isn't in an uproar about their new coach "off the job" essentially.

He should use that time recruiting and trying to keep his current commits at Nebraska. Sounds like he may be losing two big recruits to Iowa very soon.

Did not know that...

I would think that either Nebraska would not allow him to go back and coach the LSU defense after accepting the job OR LSU would not want him back since he would be another team's coach.

Again...maybe it's just me.

We are in the recruiting dead period. He can't have any contact with recruits again until its over. Even though he can't recruit right now though, I would think there would be many other things he could be doing for Nebraska.....the least of which is coaching LSU.

Maybe he just wants to coach in a big bowl game now, because he knows he won't be doing it any time soon at Nebraska.

Clearly, there are differing opinions on this but for LSU the opinions that count (Head Coach and AD) both wanted to keep the continuity of Pelini making the defensive calls for the National Championship game.

Miles is an "offensive" guy and Pelini has really been allowed to run the show on the defensive side since he has been at LSU. My guess, however, is that if LSU were not playing for the National Championship neither LSU or NU would have wanted this arrangement.

Hard to see how this might hurt Nebraska... guess it might but every recruit in the nation is watching this game and you know LSU is going to win. "Hey look, our coach just won a national championship and his defense looked damn good doing it."

What nobody has talked about yet is how will the players react to this? I guess I couldn't take seriously a guy who left you hanging only to come back and coach the NC game. That seems kind of shady to me.

The LSU players wanted him there and they are glad that he will be there...they are just like everyone else...they prefer status quo over change and Pelini has been the DC for 3 years.

I think this is completely wrong. Pellini had the decency to take another job but finish out with his current commitments on the season. I salute Bo for this.....is it better to do what RR did with going to michigan and not coaching the Bowl for WV?

Its really been pissing me off lately when a coach bolts to another job and doesnt finish up the season in a bowl with his players. Its a dead recruiting time, and it'll eat up a whole week or 2 of his time to prepare for a bowl game. I think its speaks volumes for a guys character to do what Bo is doing.

In fairness to these coaches...most of them are "shown the door" as soon as they accept another position...it is not really their choice in many cases.

Again the LSU situation is unique...they are playing for the National Championship...not the GMAC bowl. My sense is that if they were playing in any other bowl that Pelini would be shoveling snow in Lincoln rather than reviewing game tapes of the OSU offense in Baton Rouge.

Yeah, but keep this in mind - considering the situation at Nebraska this may be the last time Bo gets to coach in a bowl game in a really long time. If I were him I'd try to take advantage of that as well...
