I like Bilas but he's kind of a douche about the whole topic. He tries to pretend like he's the voice of the student athletes

No "kind of" about it. The more Bilas talks about the FBI investigation the more that you see how all over the place he is. The "it's all the NCAA's fault" comes across as another good 'ole boy protecting the club. First he claims he could absolutely believe Self and company knew nothing, and later says everybody knew money was changing hands. For Bilas being such a smart guy, the "there is nothing you can do" rant was a little much.

If you dont see the difference between knowing in general that some players are getting under the table money and being aware of specific players that come to your team are getting it then I dont know what to tell you.

In regards to Jay Bilas opinion.....

Sorry, but all sports media outlets have a strong vested interest in protecting the blue bloods. They DO NOT WANT parity in college sports because that would lead to less revenue.

There is bucket of people who will watch college sports no matter who is playing. However there is a much larger bucket of people who will only watch if a "name brand" is playing. They know a TCU- Cincinnati football playoff game has no way near the number of viewers as a Bama- OKlahoma game.

It is in NCAA's and sports media's self interest to protect blue bloods in all sports. This will only change with extreme outside pressure.

I know the difference, but we're talking about the likes of Sean Miller, Rick Pitino, Bruce Pearl, Bill Self, etc., all of the Know Nothing, See Nothing, Hear Nothing Gang.

Bilas never makes sense to me. He wants players to get paid because the schools make money off the players. Fair enough, but where are the dollars going? Facitilities, dorms and services for players. He doesn't want that cut back. Where else is the money going? To the coaches. Well he doesn't want his buddies taking pay cuts because free markets and all that. He wants the mythical old white guy in a top hat and monacle at the university, conference and NCAA that apparently living like Saudi princes to pay. If you capped ADs, conference commissioners, and Emmert's salaries to $1M per year and paid the savings to all the D1 football and Bball players it wouldn't be much at all.
So you either divert money from coaches to players or you let it be a free for all for donors. In the latter case the disparity in blue bloods vs the rest gets so huge the college sports markets are going to tank and everybody loses.

So basically no media, no players, no coaches, no shoe company employee, no agent and no ncaa exec can speak on the matter since they are all biased in your opinion.

My guess is that you only feel this way about those that do not support your view. If Bilas had roasted Kansas and Self then you'd probably trust his opinion just fine.

America in a nutshell these days. So transparent.

Which Bilas opinion to you want to go by? The one that sang the praises of Sean Miller and Rick Pitino, or the one that says they're lying and will never coach again?

You do realize that so called bluebloods rule college basketball and college football. Disparity really isn't a thing. ISU will never compete for a championship in either sport. And really, in college basketball, the east coast or eastern midwest schools rule college basketball. The only school west of the Mississippi to win a title since 2000 is Kansas. In football its the Southern schools that have dominated since 2000 with a couple bluebloods in OSU and USC thrown in.

But it isn't just paying players. It is the amateurism rules in general that are dumb. Why can't a kid get paid for an endorsement in college? Why can't a kid sign with an agent in basketball and football but he can in baseball and hockey? Why can't a kid sell his autograph and make money off of his likeness? There is nothing inherently wrong with these things.
The colleges and the NCAA, like Bilas says, want to make as much money as they can and figure out ways to make more and more money but yet they pretend like it is a strictly amateur operation and that it is really about academics and the 'student-athlete'. Ok, NCAA, if this isn't really a business then give up the TV contracts, give up the money from apparel companies and all other sources of income. Let's have a pure amateur system and keep money out of it.

It's an opinion given based on tbe information had at the time. I would expect that many people's opinions change over time as the information they have changes.

The people that should be considered biased are the people whose opinion never changes regardless of what additional information they receive. It means that they have chosen a stance and will not leave it even if new information no longer supports it.

The fact that Bilas changed his stance on coaches based on new info shows that he is not blindly biased for fellow bluebloods as you claim. He would never have had a negative stance on Miller or Pitino if your assumption was true.

By the way, I would guess Bilas's opinion might change again on Miller because it appears the ESPN reporting was bunk.

Bilas defended UNC in the academic fraud case as well. He's a loathsome creature of Duke law school and ESPN.

"Jay Bilas says the NCAA is so determined to punish North Carolina that it’s breaking its own rules to do so.

"Bilas – a former Duke basketball player who now works with ESPN – said there’s never been a situation like the one at UNC, where university officials allegedly used fraudulent classes to keep players eligible. But Bilas thinks the NCAA has stepped out of line. 'They’re breaking their own rules to try to punish North Carolina because they don’t like this …'” Charlotte Observer
