Junior Worlds is a huge step away from Senior Worlds/Olympics

Damn right it is, but that doesn’t really mean anything in the context of the question. Attached were the criteria for qualifying for an Olympic redshirt in 2016. Only required to meet one criteria, and look at #4:

I’m simply asking a question to gain more clarity, if at all possible. I know that is very difficult for a lot of people here.

I think it would have worked, but I don’t know if you can wrestle with a team before and after it. I think his unwillingness to actually wrestle, hurt his cause, had he been actually hurt, he might have been able to hit that.

Didn’t his issues end up with him taking one in 2012? I thought he was at the OTC when he bailed on Nebraska, or before to get away from Oregon state. Guy is 25, hard to keep track of those many years.

I don't know why he didn't get a waiver, but it's he and his father's absolute refusal to take any responsibility on their own that is grating to me. He was at what 4 different D-1 schools for a total of 5 years and has about a dozen D-1 matches under his belt?

I see his future consisting of backing out of a lot of MMA matches at the last minute.

Case in point. He acts like he’s been slighted the opportunity to become an NCAA champ. Has no one to blame but himself.

He could not have gotten an Olympic Redshirt in 2016 because he was wrestling for Iowa State that season and he could not have in 2012 either because he wasn't in college.

This waiver denial has NOTHING to do with our institution period. ISU did what they needed to do for him..

Edit: I'm an idiot see post below

And now according to Iowa message boards it was a failed drug test....this is my shocked face

No no no. Hawk fans were all saying he is a good kid, who made some mistakes and Tom and Terry have straightened him out. They can fix him. Looks like if this is true, KJ was able to do better with him than the dynamic duo.

And he refused to take it down after she asked him to. So posted without her consent and then not removed after she learned about it.

Nothing like a little revenge porn to make you feel all manly and junk. Maybe it helps him keep his edge? Or maybe his Dad gets off on it and it's a twisted family thing.

I WOULD say to each his own, but this is pathetic behavior all around. If all else fails, Pat can probably be a bouncer for the next Girls Gone Wild series.

Amidst all the ridiculous drama of this multi-year, multi-school saga, one thing that I find most amusing is how few matches Downy actually wrestled ... and I mean how few matches he wrestled during those stretches when he was in fact cleared to wrestle at the NCAA D1 level. And despite all the claims of greatness, I cannot remember a truly signature folkstyle win.

Now, I've got other things to think about.
