Welcome back to “On That Note,” CF’s weekly music exploration, co-hosted by @MeanDean, @CycloneRulzzz and cyclones500. I’ll be master of ceremonies for this segment.
We’re looking for songs with a lyrical phrase or word repeated an unusual number of times, in succession.
It’s common for songs to have repeated portions, as part of chorus/refrain — these need to be “noticeable re-churn.”
We won’t define unusual number of occurrences … we trust your judgment.
With each clip, note the word/phrase that is repeated, approximate time-stamp and (optional) a count of how many times it’s repeated.
No requirement that you dislike a song because of the redundant redundancy. Sometimes, it fits or is part of the allure. (Other times, maybe not). Feel free to include comments with your posts.
A couple to get us going...
“Sending out an S.O.S.”//“I’m sending out an S.O.S.” (approx. 3:30 — roughly 25 times)
“Don’t be long”//“please don’t be long//please don’t you be very long” …. about 20 in a row.
