I love NCIS, but I have to be honest. I was hoping that they would let last years story line bleed into this season a little more. I just didn't like how it was wrapped up so quickly. That and the 1st two episodes they've "tricked" the bad guy.

I agree with Mike and Molly. I think it can go somewhere. I'm not sure if some of these new shows really find their footing until they are well into the 1st or 2nd season.

Won't watch $#@!. How do you take a Twitter or Facebook page and make it into a sitcom?

I really haven't watched NCIS a whole lot since Sasha Alexander's character was killed off. Not that I hate the show, I just lost interest. And NCIS: Los Angeles really isn't doing it for me.

Don't be putting down Baby Bob, that show was awesome. A talking baby, come on, who doesn't like that.

The Steve McGarrett from the original series could beat down this new Steve McGarrett with one hand while taking out a perpetrator at 200 yards using his stubnose 0.38 with the other hand, all the while looking sharp as a tack in his 3-piece suit...

When I was a kid, I would listen to the theme song and then change the channel to watch MASH, and I had a friend that would do the opposite. Just a weird childhood memory, your comment reminded me of that.

I stopped watching after a few episodes. It just seemed campy and over the top. The NCIS answer to CSI:Miami. The episode that did me in was one where they mentioned LL Cool J being a Navy Seal at least a dozen times. So, Chris O'Donnell goes undercover to catch a suspect. He's on a golf course with the suspect and the guy gets spooked. All of a sudden, LL Cool J comes out of the water hazard in full wet suit w/ his gun aimed at the bad guy. I looked at my wife and we just laughed. I haven't watched it since.

Besides, I can't look at the boss without thinking of the costume designer from "The Incredibles."

CBS always embellishes about their new shows. I remember when that abortion of a tv show "Baby Bob" came on about a talking baby. They said it was the number one new hit comedy sensation, and then promptly cancelled it before it finished two months I think. Hell they'll call tv shows "hits" before they've even premiered.

Of the new shows I watched I wasn't too impressed. Outsourced was bad and frankly fairly racist for a network tv show. The only new show I'll continue to watch is Boardwalk Empire, although I'm looking forward to The Walking Dead when it premieres on Halloween. About damn time we had a zombie apocalypse tv series.

Big Bang theory is terrible and I don't understand why people watch it. I really hope it doesn't hurt Community's ratings enough to cancel it, that is a great show.

I am very excited for this as well. I am downloading the comics right now.

hawaii five 0 is awesome.

So far I have only watched the pilot - I have the second episode on TiVo - but color me unimpressed. The original was classic late 60's/early 70's TV. Jack Lord captured a cool collected 70's man that used brains rather than brawn to overcome the criminal element, and the viewer was constantly reminded of this by his neatly pressed suits and perfectly coifed hair even in sunny Hawaii. His intellect was his weapon of choice and he had his subordinates to provide the brawn. That made it that much better when he had to mix it up directly himself. The show itself was cutting edge at the time as much as the theme music was.

This new knock off captures none of what made the original great (so far) except the theme music. I'll give it a chance, but I'm not very hopeful.

Or lack thereof, in your case.
I wasn't commenting on the show (never have or will see it) but rather on how different people have different tastes. There really is no right or wrong............... only opinion.

The show itself was cutting edge at the time as much as the theme music was.

Jack Lord also portrayed McGarrett with immense passion, and an "I'm taking you down and you know it" attitude. And as you mentioned, the original was cutting edge in many regards, one being the use of CSI ("the lab").

In many of the cop shows today, the detectives always seem to get a lucky break with cell phone records, or from the facial recognition software, or the DNA database. The writers didn't have those easy outs back then (finger prints was about it), so more footwork and reasoning were required. The original Law and Order and LO Criminal Intent were more like that, which is why I liked those shows.

McGarrett's firearm skills in the original Hawaii 5-0 are epic. It makes me chuckle the way he often picks off the crooks with his little revolver. Also, as plagued many shows from that era, the stock footage discontinuities are bit annoying (i.e. HPD chasing a criminal in a one model of car going into a corner and coming out of the corner in a different model of car). However, the plots were solid, and Jack Lord played the part masterfully.

Sorry to hijack this thread a bit...but I also thought "Mike and Molly' sucked! I miss "The Big Bang Theory" on Monday nights...I already have shows to watch on Thursdays!
Sideways highjack, just a bit: when networks move good shows to different days and times, I question the strategy and don't necessarily watch what used to be among my favorite show(s) anymore. Don't mess with a good thing. It usually doesn't make anything better including the new shows you put in their place.

I used last Monday's episode to show my wife the manly art of following at least two shows at one time. We were flipping between Hawaii 5-0 and Emergency! on RTV (I love Emergency!). Since she's new to the concept, we started with just two shows, but I hope to be able to get her up to speed so she can follow at least 5 shows at one time...

If you pull this off, you are an inspiration to men everywher.e

If not, just another message board loser.

You can see that the stakes are high.:spinny:

Agreed. I've always scratched my head at that logic. "We've got Monday night on lockdown, let's change that line-up and try to go up against a bunch of really popular shows that we share an audience with on a different night".
