Expectation was also that Iowa, UCF and Utah would be good. They are not.

But yes, barring a collapse the season is going to end up better than expected.
If we collapse, then the season should be very much be classified as a disappointment.

You don’t go 7-0, struggle down the stretch and then revert back to meaningless preseason “predictions” and “expectations” (which are not based in facts/reality - just hopes and guesses) and say “ah well cool, turns out back in AUGUST I thought we’d only win 7, so all good!”

That’s the loser-iest little brother attitude one could possible have…

The good news is - we’ve got 4 more games to win out and secure our spot in the conference title game, a reasonable expectation when the team starts 7-0/4-0.

We were the least penalized team coming into this game. How is this a typical game for us?

I thought it was one of those 'Decades of ISU football Bingo' kind of games.

Just a lot of weirdness.

4 plays that are going to sting for awhile:

1) not taking mid range FG early
2) Hands to the face wipes out INT
3) Not being able to punch it in from 1 yard line
4) Bobbled catch by Tech not overturned

ISU's first lost fumble should be on here.

#3: not even not punching it in, but a fumbled snap and penalty.

You line up and get the ball to Sama again as he was finding a rhythm.

Those last 2 were horrendous. Sama hit the pylon with his lower leg & the placement for the spot is 6 inches outside the 1 yard line. WTF?? Half yard line or closer, we sneak it in. Huge turn of events there.

The ball was clearly not controlled by the receiver which should have been overturned. The in studio "expert" pointed this out immediately. Stay with call in the field. Preposterous.

Watched in TV, so do not know if Tech's 1st TD was the result of a "pick" play (potential offensive PI) as the broadcast team said there were technical difficulties.

Hate, hate, hate making excuses, but it's worth pointing out this team had its opportunities to make the winning plays despite all the other bs. The Sama run to inside the 1 to me was the key play. Score TD there & I feel the team secures the win.

Oh well - still a HELLuva lot to play for & this team has my support. This one just hurts a little more for whatever reason, probably the 1st 8-0 I guess

I would not say the defense was terrible. Held TTU to almost 100 yards and 15 pts below their average, generated two TOs.

But there definitely some bad stretches for the defense that were uncharacteristic.

I would say my biggest issue with the defense was 1st and last drive. Bend and broke. Biggest issues were penalties, TOs and offense sucking

Brooks getting going seemed to obviously change everything.

Why? It was a good time.
Fix a couple things, we can head back that direction.
what are those things? Seems to me, OLine play should be at the top of the list, yet here we are again. WTF is going on with the offensive line? For ***** sake, make them at least average P4 and we don’t have the problems we had tonight.

I don’t think the first one was a pick, but not sure. Looked like just a slip on the **** grass.

Maybe if ESPN didn’t have **** production their might’ve been a better view of the bobbled catch.

Also, the OPI that called their TD back was fine by the book, but there is as much or more contact initiated contact by receivers all the time and is never called. Williams fell down, but that was pretty run of the mill contact.

We have an average QB. An average o-line. We have weapons but that doesn't help when the play calling is so predictable. Defensive play calling at the end of the 1st half and end of game is way too soft. Special teams not great.

These things have ALWAYS been a problem and Campbell does nothing to fix any of it.

Hufford should have been benched during the Iowa game. Or at least moved back to left guard. He SUCKS as a center.

Good things usually happen when we bring pressure on defense, yet we hardly see it.
Hufford was God awful. High snaps consistently, penalties. I do disagree about the Rocco part..I think he's an above average QB and we would have at least one more loss or maybe two without him.

Does ISU ever, after hitting a big gainer, get up to the line, and go quickly while the defense is still reeling and disorganized? I see other teams do this. Many times it at least makes the defense burn a time out, especially when the offense is pressing in the red zone.
