Not if that raw talent plays as well as it did today.

I'll admit that ISU had some chances to keep it closer and maybe win, but they also got some bad bounces/calls that didn't help.

Over all, it's like ISU football in 2012--put all the experience you want out there. It's really hard to beat better.
Experience beat talent against UT and arguably OSU. We are witnessing a team that, again, isn't deep and is presumably getting gassed as the season wears on

I just don't think the talent is much different really. Matt, Monte, Burton were all rated as high out of high school as any of their best. Plus plenty of talent with Babb, Jackson.

Talent yes.

Athletic and long, no. Babb seems to have some length though, but hasn't seemed to find a niche yet.

I'm watching UCONN Georgetown replay right now, 4 minutes in and it's fairly evident that both teams have more of both than ISU...both have worse records though.

Another close loss, but the effort was good. We can't fault the team and coaches too much imo. We just don't have the talent, particularly when Burton is off. We're simply outmanned in too many ways.

Prohm needs to sneak more minutes for Young.

You're not being serious, right? It wasn't a very close loss, the effort wasn't that good, and yes we can fault the team and the coaches for losing a game we should win. Yikes.

Burton exhibits no effort on D, Fisher was as good as advertised, and Dixon is one helluva coach to turn around TCU like this.

Yep, and the game down in Austin is going to be tough going if UT's talent comes to fruition. Same goes for TT but no one wants to know that.

One thing of note is I thought TCU hit some crucial late shots that made a difference.

If ISU pulls it off Monday night everyone will be back to talking regions, brackets and seeding.

Thought the same thing watching UNC/Florida State today and thinking that I hope the Cyclones avoid both for as long as possible come March

Coach just said on post game show that maybe he should have got Jackson in more the second half. Good to know he figured that out 30 minutes after the game was over. Kind of like what Campbell said about Lanning after the last football game
Sorry coaching lines like that do not make wins.

Why did you think ISU should have won?

And you can't say recent history.

I thought TCU's ball movement vs. the press was impressive and they hit some nice shots late. ISU showed again they don't have a strong post presence on either end...if Morris and Burton hit 5-6 more shots combined it's a one possession game late which is not a bad thing.

ISU would get worked by both teams in a normal situation. A REAL legit ISU team doesn't come around all that often and this year is no different.

In a lot of ways I'm not concerned with the seed really as long as they get into the tourney...and if that doesn't happen, well, I've seen worse things as an ISU fan.

You know, it's really hard to admit, especially about a team that's toiled in the Big 12 cellar for the past half decade, but it's true. The talent isn't necessarily better, but they are much deeper than ours and have size to boot. They are having the type of turn around on the hardwood that I dream of our football program having on the gridiron one day.

Plus they have their Hoiberg now.

Agree - Kansas barely won there 2 weeks ago and Brodziansky had 28 against them. Breaking news: the Big 12 added another heavyweight coach to the club in Dixon.

The problem with Burton is if his shots aren't falling he just gives up and becomes a walking zombie out there. I understand if your shots don't fall but then u gotta scrap and find other ways to contribute; defend, rebound, facilitate. He just went in a shell for the first 25 mins. He started to play with a little more zip later in the game but it was too late.

That actually isn't much consolation as all. We are pretty much going to have to become big TCU fans the rest of the way
I'd like to not to become fans of other teams because we don't have any quality wins ourselves. Iowa has more quality wins than we do.

This team is good enough to win it's just they have to play a certain way every game or the result is what we saw at Iowa and today. They are not good enough to just show up and play half assed. Everyone needs to be focused and on point.

You're correct, Iowa does have a better quality win -- Purdue compared to Tech. Also beat ISU.

Composite "good losses" are about the same. Iowa also lost at home to UNO and about half of Iowa's wins are vs. sub-200 RPI.

Your main point, though, is we have to root for teams like that to validate ... I think the loss at Iowa has to be absorbed, it'll never grow into a semi-positive on the resume, but it's unlikely to be damaging.
