Coach Mac disappointed me tonight. I thought he would be able to make adjustments to stop their offense but it just didn't happen. We got abused on defense. And our offense consisted of passing it to Gilstrap or Brackins and watching them try to score. I thought Mac could come up with something way better than this but I just didn't see it tonight. Way too much standing around for a coach that is supposed to have a ton of plays and offensive schemes.

We did. We went man-to-man, 2-3, 3-2, and a half *** 3-2 trap...

I know we won't hear it. But I would love to see some emotion from McDermott on the postgame show. Starting with calling out a few players for lack of effort on the defensive end and stupid decision-making on the offensive end.

Cal asst. coach, after the announcer said that the Cal defense improved from the loss against New Mexico: "Well, to be honest, Iowa State gave us nowhere near the pressure from the point of attack that there was from New Mexico. Iowa State doesn't have guards that can break you down, so that makes things easier. They're more stationary."

Did anyone just listen to Dendy on the post-game show? I can't help the team if I'm sitting on the bench. Hey *******....all you are going to do is sit on the bench if you don't start boxing out and finishing some shots around the basket. Why don't you go airball a 14 footer to lose the game again. What a joke.

He actually said that? At least someone has some balls on this team.

It was pretty much a trouncing coming out the second half since we could not shoot. We corrected rebounding and then we lost our shooting touch.

The Iowa game probably will be one sloppy slugfest 51-47.

All the more reason I think DG needs to sit.

I think their confidence is really shaken. Amazing what momentum (or lack thereof) will do in college sports. If they had held on to beat Northwestern, I'm betting they beat UNI and have a chance against Cal. Instead, here we are. I hope they can do some soul searching and get back to business against Iowa.

Dendy is a loser...don't support that type of mutiny behavior. Show me something and then you get playing time. Don't airball a 14 foot jumper against UNI and then you get some playing time. Box the f-out and then you get some playing time.

What I see:

START- the fast break team
CB
DG
JVB
Dendy
Colvin

BACKUP - the slow work for a shot team
Lucca
Gilstrap
Ham
Booze
Buckley

Just play two styles of games and sub complete teams.
Except we don't know how long it'll be before JVB is ready again.
Colvin isn't ready to run yet. Yet.
No one on that front line outside Brackins can score.
The backups would get abused on defense.
Christopherson should be playing before Boozer.
Somebody on the both teams is getting abused by the opposing 3.

I actually have been questioning who GMac plays for awhile. I remember when we had Cory Johnson. The guy knew how to run an offensive play yet GMac barely played him. I remember one game Johnson had like 11 points in 15 minutes, Gmac takes him out three minutes into 2nd half and doesn't play him even though he had like 1 foul and wasn't injured. Never played again. So stupid. I don't even remember Johnson making stupid mistakes to warrant him not playing any of the 17 minutes of the 2nd half.

Also, maybe Wes Johnson saw the questionable coaching of McDermott and said "dude, i can do better than this with a good coach."

Johnson sits out a full year after xferring from ISU, and comes out in Syracuse and what does he do? Look way better than he did with ISU. That's a sign he has a better coach. It's not like he played last year. All he did was practice with his team. It's hardly fully an experience thing. It would be a tiny bit different if he'd played last year and gotten tons more experience against a variety of defenses, offenses, etc

GMac on post-game show: "our guards have to be more involved in rebounding."
Good luck on that one, coach.

Sloppy is the best word for our offense at this point. And when it gets to the downhill second half, it becomes sloppy seconds. We may have to go back to pure defense and 50 point games.

Corey is averaging 16 a game this year for Valpo with 7 rebounds.

My biggest problem with these last few games is the rebounding. I don't know how many balls we touched but couldn't come up with but it seemed like a lot. Brackins needs to get some help from the guards. When Scotty started to attack he seemed like someone that could contribute. If we have Garrett and Staiger on the floor any more then we're going to continue to have nights like this.

That is why I think Buck should play as well as Colvin, they try to make things happen and get get to the hoop and finish and hit their other shots.

Put Colvin at the 2 if you don't trust his PG skills. It's better than having Staiger out there when his shot isn't falling.
