4 of Iowas wins are against teams that are 3-5 or worse. One of the two teams that they have beat with a winning record is us. The other is a team with their new coach. Lots of irony there.
For the record, here’s the Sagarin conference strength after yesterday:
1. SEC west
2. Big 10 East
3. Big 12
4. PAC
5. SEC east
6. Big 10 west 73.38
7. ACC 73.36

And note the big drop off in rating points and how close the big ten west is to bring the worst P5 division. And the Big 10 west is closer in rating points to the Sun Belt East than the Big 10 east.

And it has been last or 2nd to last among p5 divisions every year of its existence. It isn’t a bad division. It’s a horrendous division that is a multiple win difference for a decent team.

What I am saying is that our schedule so far this season, has not been as difficult as it looked like it was going to be. TCU is horrible as is Cinn, we got OSU when they were struggling at the start of the year, and Baylor is not a very good team either. The only conference team we have played so far that is above decent is OU.
Now after saying that we are hitting the hardest part of the schedule, KU, and UT at home and at BYU and KSU.

The big difference is last year we would keep it close and lose in the end, this year we are finding a way to win those game.
I get what you are saying, but:
  • ISU beat OSU and then the next week OSU beats KSU. OSU is 6-2 so it's not like they have a bad team. They just laid an egg vs. South Alabama.
  • TCU is a bit of an enigma, but they aren't a bad team. In the end they could easily be a 6-6 team with a couple "what-if" games against Colorado and WVU.
  • Never apologize for beating conference teams on the road!!
That said, we likely have 3 games against ranked opponents left on our schedule: KU, UT and KSU. It would feel nice to win at least 1 of those 3.

Iowa State is still getting better but had they executed more cleanly they would have blown them out. I think it's splitting hairs to complain about mistakes at this point. They're very young and they're going to make mistakes. They're also winning and winning is all that matters.
I like the idea of us having things to work on before KU comes to town. They are going to get our A game

Oh really? Most plays I've seen where the ball is dislodged its either punched out or they at least try to involve their arms in the process. He lowered his shoulder right into his head and neck, classic targeting, hence why he was ejected.

Like I said before, learn how to tackle instead of trying to get on TikTok. Not even 2 plays before that Jeremiah Cooper made a textbook form tackle which is how the game is suppose to be played. Go back and watch it.

Remember, not even 7 days ago everyone was officiating professionals on here so you should agree it was the correct call.
Look at the play it was bang/bang collision type play.

Tampa's not playing flag football out there and if he touches the receiver he is down. It was a straight on collision and Tampa has to tackle with his shoulders. Can't make an arm tackle in that situation.

Plus if you watch the play, the BU receiver dips his head. Tampa deserved to be booted for targeting, but NO WAY was that a lazy tackle.

This is really not that big of a surprise, given it’s the CR Gazette, but … 1) how do you mistake a running back for a defensive player, and 2) Sama is wearing number 24, it’s right there in front of you, how do you confuse that with a 7? (Or was Verdon wearing 24 yesterday, I don’t know, the official roster says 7).

Or this explains why we didn’t see Sama later in the game, he’d transformed into Malik Verdon without us realizing it.

I cancelled my CRG subscription OVER TWENTY YEARS AGO because their ISU coverage was so insultingly bad.

Nope, it wasn't perfect video game like execution the whole game so us fans need to struggle emotionally with the win.
That's what I always say during basketball season. Fans really do expect every win when favored to be a surgical dismantling. When it's not, they freak out. Fans are invested in every play of their own team, so the mistakes are more glaring in their head.

For any non-ISU fan who watched the whole game, they would come away with the conclusion that ISU was easily the better team.

That has to be one of the dumbest comments I have seen on here in a while. The hyperbole of the board sometimes is out of this world. My first comment about the game was what a great victory it was, we missed a couple of passes, but we went on the road and won.

That has now morphed into I am only happy when ISU loses? You can enjoy wins, and still understand, that while they are wins, we are not beating very good teams. Yes, it's better to win than get beat, but let's be real here, the schedule gets tougher from here on out and I think many of us would be very happy to go 2-2 over that stretch.

You are starting to sound like an Iowa fan, playing crappy teams in your division and talking crap about what great wins they are.
Every good record is built on beating bad teams. That's why they are bad teams. They get beat. The difference is last season, we were the bad team getting beat.

Every season, you have 3-4 games against good competition. The rest are matchups between average to bad teams. This year, we've been winning those matchups. 30-18 on the road in conference is a good win. Some of our fans need a history lesson.

Agree on Rocco. Don't feel he played a bad game, but a couple key completions and he could have had a great game.

His accuracy was off a bit on throws, was it rain/wet conditions? He had 2 bad plays that stand out, the interception and fumbled snap on 3rd & 1. Then his missed throws to Higgins and Jackson could have resulted in TD's.

One area he has consistently been weak over the season is under throwing fade routes in the end zone. Fortunately, I don't believe any have been intercepted.
He missed two TDs to Jackson. He had Jackson wide open in the end zone on that last red zone drive, but he never looked back to the middle of the field.

Repeating but I'm kinda glad ISU won with so many things to improve on heading into this week.

They'll have to play very well but KU is beatable.

Just win. You think the Hoks care when they beat lousy teams 6-3 or 13-10? Just win.

And just need to watch more college football/sports or something.

If the best teams performed to their max all the time then the NCAA tournament and college football would not be as popular as they are.
