I don't care HOW bad the 4 teams we've beat are. A month ago, we thought we were bad. And we've beat 3 of 4 by more than one score. And the other was a solid win.

I'm thrilled for the players.
So, we have a B10 West type of schedule, as long as we keep winning, it does not matter. EIU has made a killing off schedules just like ours this year for a decade or more.

Yeah - he chased that missed XP all game and not only did he never get it back, but he didn't convert a single one of them and it forced them to need to score another TD at the end.
These coaches really have to get over chasing points on the XP chances. If they kick the extra point after their last score, they are only down 8 and have the momentum, but they go for 2, it gets stuffed and now they are down 9 and go back to needing two scores and lost the momentum that they gained by scoring.

It was all around weird. I thought they had the downs wrong or something.
I’m sure somewhere in here it is discussed but the one announcer early in the game that said we got a first down when we just got back past the original line or something, I was just wut?

2 turnovers, a mediocre game by our QB, and our best player disqualified for 2nd half, but we still won on the road by 2 scores. Pretty impressive.

That was a game that I thought we left too many points on the board in the first half…and them also looked good. I was comfortable, but it happy at half time. Second half looked good up to the point where we scored a td…then the wheels fell off for most of the second half. Defensive ugliness combined with subpar offensive play…and sometimes weird play calling. Becht had what I think was his worst game of the year. And the clones still won. Crisis averted.

Go on the road and win a game that gives us 3 in a row and 4 out of 5, and people are complaining. Yes, we left a lot of points on the field today, but it was a win after coming off an 1-8 season in the conference last year.
5 games in we are tied for first place in the conference, what more could people really expect right now after we lost to Ohio on the road.

Take the win, improve the long passes and move on to KU for homecoming.
Couldn’t agree more. Now that KU has the potential to be ranked, next week gets very interesting!!

Have to love as a fan punking Baylor on their homecoming game. Have always despised that program even though Aranda seems like a standup guy.

Defense
  • The great tackle behind the line by Caleb Bacon on their 2 point conversion try was an underrated big play moment I thought. Flipped momentum.
  • #47 freshman Kooper Ebel. No he did not post crazy stats. Yes - I am super excited to see him play more, he at 6"4 , 225 lbs and quick feet looks like a AJ Klein/MIke Rose talent. He's going to be good.
  • Joey Peterson DE was a badass this afternoon. One fumble recovery, a good tackle for loss, and even a special teams tackle. Grinder hard nosed player.
  • Today was Jack Sadowski's best game as a cyclone. Will McLaughlin was also really good.
  • The defense was strong tonight and didn't have to be elite, the offense was so efficient it made it easier on them.
  • Thankfully Tampa will be able to play starting in the second half against KU. I would've hated if he missed that whole game
  • The Malik Verdon pick was oh so pretty, what a player
Offense
  • Scheelhaase is in a groove fellas. 240 passing about, and 160 yards rushing, that is some sweet balance.
  • Good for C. Norton, two TD's and I absolutely loved the Wing T formation for him near the goalline. To me he's great in short yardage packages.
  • I still like Eli Sanders to get the lion's share of carries and majority of first down carries. He is becoming really efficient at getting 5 yds a carry lately.
  • O Line and Tight Ends: Brendan Black playing more, Jim Bonifas getting more confidence at center, Tyler Miller finding more of a mean streak. It's just been a total attitude transformation for these guys. Claton is worth every dollar. And Mouser is getting good blocking out of TE's, especially Dean and Klotz.
  • We have a formidable two headed monster at WR with Higgins and Noel. If D's key in on one, one tends to be open.
  • Rocco is just a great decision maker, quick release, and accurate. (reminds us of another cyclone QB a little doesn't it?) His only bad play was the one pick. The TD to Higgins in the first quarter was an absolute beauty.
Let's beat blue chicken next week.

Not sure I agree. Three best teams in B1G are Michigan, OSU and PSU. Iowa only plays ONE. Same for Nebraska, ONE.

Four best teams in Big 12 are UT, OU, KSU and KU. ISU will play all four. No comparison to a weak ass B1G West schedule.

We have almost the toughest schedule we could have drawn.

Might not be our typical #11 sos, but will be way above average for fbs.

I didn't think it was a bad call, given we couldn't tackle Pendergrass for **** up until that point. I'm thrilled we were prepared for it (captain obvious).

If Baylor fan wants to be mad about any calls, Aranda's 2 pt decisions were puzzling. Failing to convert those kept it at a two possession game at a critical time.
I thought it was a little predictable, but I agree, I get why it was called. Getting him to the outside where our DBs weren't interested in tackling him would've been a better call, but I get it.

I'm not sure, but I think the math supported all of Aranda's 2-point calls. Down 15, you have to get a two-point conversion at some point, so the thought is that you do it right away, so you know what you have to do regardless of the outcome.

Just for giggles, let's say all 4 are amazingly awful. Our program has something of a history of finding ways to lose to awful teams. Right now, we're beating them. No matter how bad they (emphasize this word) may be, we're getting convincing wins. That's just has to be good, right?
