Let's chat about day one of the Masters in this thread.

Today's burning question: Does Arnold Palmer have a shot to pull off the greatest upset in sports history?

Blows that the previous thread was closed as I was putting in my pick...

(it was going to be Lefty, BTW)

As far as the upset, dunno - but I like his drink...

I watched Palmer last night in the par 3 contest and it kind of made me sad. I doubt we see him playing in it much more than a couple more years. On the other hand, Player and Nicklaus still look very good for their age. Especially Player. Granted they are somewhere around 6 and 10 years younger, respectively.

For the Bubba Watson fans out there... you have to check out the guys videos on Youtube. He has some funny videos he puts out. Probably a good guy to follow on twitter as well. Pretty hard to not cheer for this guy.

This is BS, I demand an investigation into this contest.

The investigation concludes that there is no proof of him recieving improper benefits.

Nick Watney had a nice run to finish the front 9. He was +2 thru 6 holes and then birdies 7,8,and 9. Well done.

The Masters looks so good in HD. Augusta looks immaculate. The Masters always reminds me that Spring is just around the corner, and we are leaving the dark and dreary days of winter behind us.

It's good weekend nappin' TV too. Just pop it on, lay down on the couch, and enjoy.

My pick to win was Adam Scott and he double bogeyed to start but still finished the front 9 at -1

The key to the Masters is that you never want your pick to get off to a really great start. That spells disaster. Usually the guys that are at the top of the leaderboard after the 1st round fall off the face of the earth come the 2nd & 3rd rounds.

Currently have 2 amateurs sitting in the top 10.

I'm at work and can't get any video feeds, ( stupid IT restrictions :) ) seeing some fairly low scores already. Is the course set up that easy/really soft greens/really easy pins?

PS, I'll take an international player to win this year. Someone like Lee Westwood or Martin Kaymer.

The innocent little 140 yard par 3 12th claims yet another victim. Aaron Baddeley drops a triple bogey 6. Ouch.

For anyone watching, is TIger just playing rock solid or is he scrambling to make it look rock solid?

If Phil doesn't win, I hope it's either Anthony Kim or Dustin Johnson. We need some of these young Americans to start winning majors. Guys like Phil, Tiger and Furyk aren't going to be around forever.

Agreed. The younger generation of American players has shown flashes of greatness in majors but hasn't come through yet. Bubba was close and Dustin was close a couple of times. It is going to happen here soon.
