Had Prohm employed this strategy the last few years instead of recruiting the Luke Andersons and Marcedus Leeches of the world he still might be ISU HCHope we grab two guys from Hills every year so we can stop obsessing over it.

When has Indian Hills been bad lolYou and I both know this isn't remotely close to being true. Role players on bad teams weren't going to do squat for Iowa State.
When has Indian Hills been bad lol
taking IHCC best players to be role players at ISU would have been a better strategy than what Prohm had his last few years. Home run or strike out recruiting does not work.Taking Indian Hills' best players they would be role players at Iowa State. Iowa State has been pretty bad these last few years. There hasn't been any Hills players that would be difference makers for us.
Tomas Wolderensae - Virgina
Maurice Calloo - Oregon State
Shane Gatling - Colorado
Tre’Darius McCallum - DePaul
Devontae Lane - C. Michigan
All would have been better than
Dudley Blackwell
Luke Anderson
Marcedus Leech
Zion Griffin
Terrence Lewis
Ray Kasongo

For reference - Indian hill players like

More than 2, imoHow many more wins do you think that would have led to for us? Must be a lot if it could have potentially saved Prohm's job.
We can agree to disagree. The majority of our rosters besides a few players have been pretty trash. Tomas Woldetensae and Shane Gatling would have both helped our 3 point shooting the last two seasons. Especially Woldetensae who was a +40% 3 point shooter for Virginia last season. With the way everything ended with Foster I would have loved to had either Maurice Calloo or Chris Payton who are at Oregon State, and Pittsburgh respectively as insurance at the 4 and 5 spots. Heck having Curtis Jones come off the bench as the backup PG instead of Walker most likely would be an upgrade by a good amount. Tyon Grant-Foster in the 2019 Class, and Tyem Freeman in the 2020 Class would have been immediate impact guys for Iowa State.Taking Indian Hills' best players they would be role players at Iowa State. Lol, and none of those guys would've made a lick of difference for ISU.
Indian Hills isn't our ticket. It never has been. Who besides Hogue and McKay (via Marquette) has come to Iowa State and made a difference?

Who from the SE worked for ISU? I’m not saying IHCC is the golden ticket nor should it be the end all strategy for TJ going forward but in retrospect it would have been a more fruitful recruitment the last few years for Steve’s tenure vs recruiting 3 stars from the South. Of course all my opinion. We’ll never know for sure
go cyclones
Cory Hightower and Ernest Brown would have if they didn't go right from Hills to the NBA. Both were coming to Iowa State otherwise. If Chris Alexander does not have to leave the team to be with his sick kid, and tend to other family stuff he becomes a force for Iowa State.Lol, and none of those guys would've made a lick of difference for ISU.

Sure fine whatever. I’m sorry I’ve derailed this thread into a “how Steve Prohm should have recruited” thread. Will disengage now and next update you see from me will be relevant to 2022 recruiting. Both are terrible recruiting strategies that will get you fired at a P5 school.

I mean recruiting Top 100 players is a good formula for winning at every school.Oh jesus, I didn't realize we had passionate Indian Hills fans on this board. Indian Hills Community College is not the way to build a good Big 12 program.
You guys are setting the bar really low by clamoring for those guys. But if you really want to say we would've gone 5-19 instead of 2-22 with a few IHCC guys, go for it.
Recruiting Top 100 players is how you win at Iowa State. Period.
